I never liked Creme Brulee til now! Really! June 21 2011

This book was originally given to me as a gift with a torch. I had never really liked Creme Brulee before but I tried the basic vanilla bean creme brulee in the book and I was hooked. The recipe calls for real vanilla beans and it just delish. The recipes are easy to follow. There are quite a few savory creme brulees that I haven't tried but look good. This book would be a great gift or great for personal use. My mom gave me the book and then she wanted a copy for herself so I gave her a copy! I would recommend this book.

No one ever seems to have a clue how easy creme brulee is to make, and guests are always impressed. If you want to go beyond the basics this is a great book to add to your library, along with Elegantly Easy Creme Brulee: & Other Custard Desserts. I never liked the results I got caramelizing the sugar under a broiler (plus it takes longer and heats the custard underneath as a result), so I highly recommend this torch BonJour Creme Brulee Chef's Professional Culinary Torch with Fuel Gauge. It seems reasonably priced and better made than even others made by the same company (BonJour).

If you just want a good basic creme brulee recipe you can find that on the Net at If you want variations and to keep it interesting over time for your guests, I highly recommend these two books.

The best creme brulee book I've found. Simple to understand instructions, great photos. As with other Pappas books, this is a pretty much no-fail cookbook that turns out excellent creme brulees, from the most basic to the more intricate. a great cookbook for beginners as well as experienced cooks. Highly recommended.

I have made 2 different Brulee's from this cookbook so far. My sister is hounding me to borrow it, I might make her wait a little longer. The two that I made were yummy. I have experience with Creme Brulee's, so the recipes were easy to follow.
