Relief from Cold and Flu Symptoms, Award-Winning Design
When children have stuffy noses and congestion, it is very difficult for any parent to hear them struggle to breathe. The Crane Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier releases up to 2.1 gallons of moisture into the air per day to soothe nasal passages and dry coughs so that children can breathe easier and sleep peacefully at night.
Benefits of This Crane Humidifier
Humidifiers are an ideal choice for relieving the discomforts of nasal congestion, dry itchy skin, chapped lips, nose bleeds, and dry throat. The moisture that humidifiers add to dry air helps alleviate common nuisances brought on by winter heating, such as static electricity, peeling wallpaper, and cracks in paint and furniture. Many pediatricians recommend the use of a humidifier to help relieve congestion from the common cold and flu as an alternative to over-the-counter cough and cold medicine.
Straightforward, Whisper-Quiet Operation
Crane's cheerful design complements any children's bedroom decor. Not only are Crane humidifiers adorable, but they are also easy to use, and include a built-in auto-shut-off feature that engages when water tank is empty to ensure safety. Plus, they require less power than a standard light bulb. The whisper-quiet operation helps provide for a good night sleep for everyone.
Operating the Crane Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier requires only a few easy steps. Simply remove the water tank from the unit, unscrew the tank cap, and fill the one-gallon water tank under a water faucet. Securely replace the tank cap, making sure the rubber cap seal is in place, and place the water tank back onto the unit. Place the humidifier on an elevated surface and set it to a medium output setting for comfortable room humidification.
If you have a lot of minerals in your tap water, it is recommended to use distilled water, filtered water, or a Crane demineralization filter (HS-1932). Place humidifier on an elevated surface and not on carpet, towel, or sensitive wood furniture.
Cleaning and Storage
Frequently cleaning your humidifier is very important. Crane recommends emptying the water in the basin daily, making sure you pour away from the fan air-outlet. Disinfect the water basin and tank weekly by using a white vinegar and fresh water solution, let sit for 30 minutes, then rinse. For convenience, the Crane Descaler solution HS-1933 is also available. It is important to disinfect and dry completely before storage.

I had to return the penguin as it started making a grinding noise. The elephant has been working well.
It's very dry here in winter, so I have the humidifier in my bedroom. As long as you aren't disturbed by the small noises it makes when you sleep (like little gurgles) it does the job well. It's a little messy when you refill it, so be sure your surface is waterproof as you will get water spills while taking it apart to refill.
What I like about it is it's simplicity. The filter serves as the cap, so there isn't anything complicated about filter installation. I also like how cute it is.
I have never had to return anything to Amazon before, so I was dreading it, but I want to say how impressed I am with their return process. All I had to do was find a box that would be appropriate for the object. In future, I will keep the shipping box and shipping slip for a month or two until I know the item is OK, as it would be nice to use them for the return, if necessary.
I realize we can purchase an addition to keep the 'white dust' and residue down in the HK humidifier, that would be very nice in the other models (though not sure where it would fit). I'll look into it in the future, but still worry about the nebulizer and build up.
General Crane Review: Crane needs to make it more clear in the manual how damaging tap water can really be on the 'nebulizer' once that thing gets even a bit of mineral deposit on it, or the black layer scratched, the humidifier stops working. They should make a replacement nebulizer part.
People were complaining about water leaking, but that's not the case: IF we disturb its eyes (which actually are the lid), the water condensed underneath may run and spill around its feet, but if you set the Frog somewhere and leave it there, only moving it (whole) to refill, you won't have problems.
Full, and working according to specifications (with the mist going up, not down), it will last for more than a day (our house has one living room and one bedroom).
Tip: when refilling, unplug it and take all of it to the sink - that avoids spills.
The Crane humidifier (reviewed) makes a "heavier" mist. The mist goes down and it wets the area around the humidifier. Don't put it on "high"! There will be a puddle on the floor! We set it to "medium". On "medium" there's no puddle, but the carpet is wet anyway. The humidifier is on a night stand, we know that it we should not place it on the floor.
Our other "cool mist" humidifier never makes a puddle - it creates a lighter mist that flows away easily.
It's quiet, even on high.
It has a dial setting, not just off, low or high. You get to set it exactly to where you want it.
I've noticed that some people have said that when it's on high it will create condensation around the unit, it's happened occasionally with ours, but I think it's also based on the temperature in the room. For the most part, this is not an issue.
They are adorable. The owl suits our living room very well, and although it's most likely meant for a kids room, I think it's much nicer than a plain white or black unit.
So pleased with my purchase. I expect that if I decide I need another humidifier in our place, I will go right back to Crane without looking anywhere else.

No noisy. Does it job, and my baby has no more running nose since I got it.Published 4 days ago by Cecile Bello
Quiet and works effectively at humidifying. I would opt for another animal because it is hard to clean the inside of the elephant's trunk!Published 7 days ago by Jeremy Shimmerman
I bought 2 of these units: 1 for my 2 kids, 1 for myself. The noise made by the units is a continuous steady rather sharp noise whose level is equivalent to the average fan of a... Read morePublished 13 days ago by Philippe C, Toronto
Was skeptical because it looks small in the picture. It's not. It's large and puts out a beastly 2.1 gallons in moisture lasting 24 hours. Quite impressed. Read morePublished 15 days ago by mumphry
