Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

Carr spins off her original Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips in this uplifting guide. She begins with her own story—the discovery of inoperable Stage IV cancer in her liver and lungs—then covers four main topics: diagnosis, mind, body and spirit. Though she admits to having bad days, Carr follows her own advice to shake off passive malaise. She gathers her support group or posse (many of whom supply guest entries), determined not to let cancer poison her entire world. Included are helpful sections on choosing the right doctor and learning to live in a self-nurturing manner. A vegan, the 30-something Carr also includes tips for fighting cancer with your fork. The upbeat Carr makes it easy to forget she has cancer, yet she touches upon some grim statistics: by 2050 half of all women and one third of all men will have some form of the disease. Carr—who proves that living with cancer is truly an option—explains, I always try to talk about my cancer in a bold and confidant way. While her hip, chatty style may particularly appeal to a youthful audience, her authenticity and sound advice will resonate with survivors of all stages and ages. (Sept.)

Review

Praise for Kris Carr and her bestselling Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips

"I read Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips cover to cover on a a flight from LA to NY. I laughed out loud, wept quietly, and most of all, marveled at the magic that is Kris Carr. If Deepak Chopra, What To Expect When You're Expecting, and Sex and the City had a love child, it would look just like Kris' Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips.  It is sheer perfection for cancer 'cowgirls' and their loved ones—colorful, soulful, and intimate."
—Rory Freedman, coauthor of #1 NY Times best seller Skinny Bitch

“Kris is the ray of light that is needed to raise awareness of what it means to give back. What more can one wish for? She is a true leader of courage and inspiration.”

—Donna Karan

“Kris Carr has done something extraordinary with this book: She has put cancer in its place. She has triumphed, and paved a path by which others can triumph too. She deserves our most heartfelt ‘Bravo.’"

—Marianne Williamson, author of A Return to Love and Everyday Grace

“Carr’s documentary, and her new book, Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips, may be the first girlfriend’s guide to living with cancer—a sign of the times really. More and more people are living with cancer, and Carr’s message is they can live full lives, they don’t have to be “defined” by the c-word.”—Kelly Wallace, CBS News Correspondent

“Kris Carr’s book is an excellent resource filled with tips on how to not only survive but thrive. . . . [T]he abundant information about life and living contained in this book will coach you in a way that will make you an empowered star performer and winner in the face of adversity.”

—Bernie Siegel, MD, author of Love, Medicine & Miracles and Help Me to Heal

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, Mar 9 2009
This review is from: Crazy Sexy Cancer Survivor: More Rebellion and Fire for Your Healing Journey (Paperback)
I strongly recommend this book along with Kris's 1st book, Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips. Of all the books I read during my cancer ordeal, these 2 were the only ones that truly gave me the boost and tools I needed to move forward with courage and excitment about my future. A very well presented book that keeps you wanting more and laughing along the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars not just for cancer patients!, Aug 16 2008
By Pokey Malone - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Crazy Sexy Cancer Survivor: More Rebellion and Fire for Your Healing Journey (Paperback)
I caught Kris Carr's documentary on TLC and was really impressed with how real, raw, and relatable she was. I got her first book and couldn't wait to get this one too. Her message of being true to yourself and finding strength in seemingly impossible situations is something that anyone can relate to--not just cancer patients! And her suggestions for optimal nutrition and healthy eating make sense for anyone interested in eating better and feeling better. Cancer and adversity are such difficult situations to deal with, it's nice to find someone who understands that, but who also understands that sometimes you just have to yell back and be irreverent and not be afraid to be yourself so that you can find the strength to take control of your own situation and take care of yourself. I love that with this new book there's space for you to write in your own thoughts and feelings and to find your own inspiration as a means of empowering yourself in the face of cancer or any other adversity you may be feeling.

5.0 out of 5 stars The End of the Pity Party, Oct 25 2008

From personal experience, I can say that a cancer diagnosis, and the aftermath of treatments, out of control emotions, and fear, can leave us feeling VERY sorry for ourselves.

Enter one crazy, sexy, "CanSer Cowgirl", Kris Carr. In her newest book, Carr shines her encouraging light on anyone who is willing to look for a way out of the darkness that cancer brings into our lives.

I loved her first book, and this one did not disappoint. In every way, it lives up to its subtitle of "more rebellion and fire for you healing journey."

Kris Carr's chapters on diagnosis, treatment, mind, body, and spirit, offer suggestions and an upbeat philosophy that can help you cope even when you're feeling tired, overwhelmed, and very, very afraid. Her story, and the stories of her "cancer posse" are inspiring because they illustrate a tenacious WILL to live well--DESPITE cancer. (And there is the beginning of the end of the pity party.)

If you, or a loved one, have cancer, try this book. And light a fire under your own healing spirit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Something for the Under 40 Cancer Patients, July 18 2009
By K. Ulrich "koyote kathy" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Crazy Sexy Cancer Survivor: More Rebellion and Fire for Your Healing Journey (Paperback)
This book clearly defines the difference between most younger and older cancer patients, particularly in the area of language. Since I'm in the (much) older group, the title turned me off, but I read it on the recommendation of a friend. Once past the language, I found the book loaded with information and wit. While I don't agree with all her recommendations, she thought of many things that never entered my mind when I was diagnosed. She refuses to be a victim, but continues on in her determined, proactive way. Good for her!! We need more written for this unfortunately growing group of women.
