Product Description

Product Description

Working one stitch at a time on a short hook, you can make projects ranging from delicate lace tablecloths to thick sweaters. Acquire practical skills like calculating yarn requirements and tension, and practice basic stitches like the chain, the slip, and the treble. Learn how to finish off, join a new ball of yarn, and read a charted pattern. Alphabet charts let you personalize practically anything. Bonus: the “pattern library.”

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful!, April 25 2000
This review is from: A Creative Guide To Crochet (Paperback)
I think this book has some beautiful fillet patterns. I also like the suggestions it gives for modifying patterns & the pattern library at the end. For US crocheters, the British terms can be a little frustrating, but OK. I dislike patterns that are given by diagram rather than written instructions - as some of these patterns are, but, at least, they are clearly done.

To sum: The patterns in this book are elegant and it is a worthwhile addition to the crocheter's library.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not wrong...just different, Aug 31 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: A Creative Guide To Crochet (Paperback)
Okay, I'm the one who wrote the last review and when I wrote it I thought that the stitches were wrong but it turns out that they are called different things in the UK. Who knew? Not me obviously. So I'm sorry for the confusion. The book uses UK terms rather than US ones. If you are used to the US terms it will make following the patterns more difficult as you will have to translate from the UK terms but otherwise it's an okay book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bypass this in your quest for creative crochet, Nov 9 2006
By Mary T. Foster "Colorado Bibliophile" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: A Creative Guide To Crochet (Paperback)
This book is difficult to read. I have been crocheting for many years and still found it difficult to follow. Perhaps the difficulty arose from the fact that European crochet patterns are used. It is certainly not for inexperienced crocheter.
