I had owned an 8GB Zen before I purchased this, and I absolutely loved the machine. So, I decided to try another Creative Labs model. The original Creative Labs player I had before had great features, a FULL-SIZED SD card slot, and outstanding sound quality. So, I purchased the better version of the model I had enjoyed for at least 2 years. I got the new 16GB Zen MX unit in the mail, loaded it with music, and it ran beautifully for a couple of weeks. Then, it developed an incredibly irritating habit. During regular playback, and regardless of the battery's charge level, the unit would shut off, then restart. Then, it would scan the player's memory, and THEN it would rebuild the music library. After it took a couple minutes getting itself back together, it would continue playing where the track had stopped. This happened more and more as time went by. Finally, I sent it out for an RMA after it had shut down, and went through the reboot cycle as I mentioned above. Except this time, the player had been running for less than 5 minutes. So, I'm now waiting for the replacement for the broken machine to return. I would REALLY like to be using that player right about now. It's just too bad the new models are apparently garbage. I don't know what I'm buying when this one undoubtedly dies earlier than it should. I've already been through several Sony players, and several Sansa (SanDisk) machines, and this was the one I hoped would be the reliable replacement. Apparently, I'm going to have to stop buying anything from Creative Labs, as well. I certainly won't be buying ANOTHER one of these chunks of garbage.
