Great band, pathetic compilation Feb 13 2004
By Taylor X TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Audio CD
Creedence Clearwater Revival were one of the greatest classic southern rock bands to have ever existed, no questions asked. It's not surprising that the band has released a number of hits compilations. Among the many compilations are this one - Creedence Gold. Is this a masterpiece of a compilation that beautfully demonstrates the band's music mastery, or an ill-fated piece of junk? Read on for my review.

PROS:
-It's Creedence Clearwater Revival, and this compilation has some of their biggest hits.

CONS:
-Creedence Clearwater Revival is NOT a band that can be represented in just eight songs.
-Way too many hits are missing in action! Where are Born On The Bayou, Who Will Stop The Rain, Up Around The Bend, Lodi, and I Put A Spell On You?
-If you can fit eighty minutes onto a CD, why does this CD not come anywhere near filling that limit?

OVERALL:
I LOVE Creedence Clearwater Revival, but this compilaton is a worthless piece of garbage. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of just one is because I like the band. If you're new to Creedence Clearwater Revival, and you want their best hits compilation, get Chronicle Volume One. It puts this to shame.

Short, but sweet Oct 18 2000

Creedence Gold might not have all the best known songs by Creedence Clearwater Revival, but it does have their biggest hits such as "I Heard It Through The Grapevine," "Proud Mary," and "Down On The Corner." If you're familiar with CCR's hits, you should recognize all the songs.

This might not be the definitive CCR hits collection, but for what it is, it's great. If you like CCR, but you only like a few of their songs and would like to have just them instead of 20 of their songs, I would recommend getting Creedence Gold. However, if you're a major fan of CCR, get their Chronicle of their 20 greatest hits.

Don't have alot of time to listen to music, so this collection of some "classic" CCR songs is great for me!

A Great album of their songs.... Dec 23 2005
By Matt Tawesson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This album by Creedence Clearwater Revival contains 8 of their well known songs. I have read reviews that this title either does not have enough of their songs or that it is not worth getting. I really don't believe that, but I know that this is a good CD for someone who is just starting to discover their music (some people say that this is a starter title). The songs are excellent. From the opening track, "Proud Mary" to the closing track, "Suzie Q", these eight songs are good for the new CCR fan. I love all of the songs on this album. Their version of "I Heard it Through the Grapevine" is a wonderful track, with John Fogerty's vocals during the first 2-3 (?) minutes, and then the rest is instrumental, the entire song clocking in at barely over 11 minutes, while "Born on the Bayou" clocks in at barely over 5 minutes and the final track, "Suzie Q", clocking in at barely more than 8 1/2 minutes. This may not be a thorough album title, but it is OK for new fans to get as a sampler. For those of you who want a wider variety of their songs, go ahead and check out the Chronicle CDs, Volume 1 and/or 2.
