5.0 out of 5 stars Dracula lives! What a fine, groundbreaking book!, Feb 8 2000

This is the story of how Dracula became the King Vampire about whom Bram Stoker wrote. It has strong historical elements. The author obviously did in-depth research. And it's a wonderful romance as well! Vlad Dracula is initiated into Vampirism and the secrets of the Occult World by a Gypsy Witch named Tzigane. Even death cannot end their love! Don't miss it!

3.0 out of 5 stars great for (in my experiance) a romance, but not perfect., Aug 22 2010

This IS the longer version of "I am Dracula", which is oddly the biggest problem with it. The abridged version is better and contains more. The ending reaches farther into time, and inserts some really awesome elements, especially if your "into" paganism. Despite those flaws, as a stand alone or if you read it by itself, then this is a great romance that shy's away from anything truly graphic. I admit I almost never read romances, but this one really made you feel like the two characters are deeply in love (unfortunately, once again the abridged does it much better). Also, I was not impressed upon close inspection of the cover art, as odd as that may sound. The fangs look hideously fake, which is surprising considering its a man-made work of art. The cover says "Dracula" all over the place, I don't think we need plastic children's fangs on two lovers to inform us it's a vampire book.
