My husband works in construction and for years we struggled with what to pack for lunch - sandwiches get boring, cold lunches aren't always satisfying, especially with a physically demanding job. We bought this on a whim and it is AMAZING! We've been using it for almost 2 years and it is still going strong. After supper, I pop in some leftovers. The next day, my husband plugs it in about 30 minutes before lunch and is able to enjoy a hot, tasty meal. There are now about half a dozen other men he works with who have bought the same thing... it's a genius invention for people who don't have access to a microwave! You will have no regrets.

I own 2 slow cookers and have always been a fan. This is NOT a slow cooker - it doesn't cook, but it warms really well. My main use (only use so far) is to make Oatmeal. I buy organic steel cut oats (the real stuff!) and cook that almost every day. At night (around 9 or 10 pm) before I go to sleep, I measure out 1/2 cup oats, 2 cups liquid (1 1/2 cups water and 1/2 cup almond milk - or whatever you like, cow's milk, goat's milk, soy milk) and cover it up and plug it in and in the morning I have perfectly cooked oatmeal every morning. I bought this because I have some cholesterol issues and oatmeal is a good cholesterol lowering food. Give it a try - it's worth every penny!

This is one of the most useful products that I've ever bought. I've started a new job in an area where the only non-driving option for lunch is McDonald's - I can find healthy choices there, but eventually, it's boring!

I ordered one of these, and haven't looked back. In my experience, it takes about 4 hours for some things to heat to temperature... soups, stews and chili heats quicker - more liquid. But I've also used it to re-heat a stirfry, and for mashed potatoes on the bottom with a piece of steak on top. Those took a little longer. But, I plug it in when I get to my desk around 8:30, and by noon I'm eating. No lining up for the microwave, plus all the nutrients stay in the food. A plus for me - it's a single serving - so no temptation to pack a bigger lunch just because that's the size of container you have clean! LOL.

As others have said - there are no smells until such time as you open the pot. Caveat - it does not COOK, only warms. But, if you put meat in there, it will cook a bit - my medium-rare steak went to medium, for example.

Possibly the best thing I've ordered on Amazon!!

I really love this item and finally decided it was high time I posted a review. Here is what I love about it:

1. Saves time. I no longer use the office microwave and in doing so I figure this lovely crockpot is saving me at least 5 minutes every workday which over the course of a year is 20 hours!
2. In addition to being a timesaver, this re-heats my lunch perfectly every time, without drying it out or changing the texture as sometimes happens with a microwave. It heats evenly and there are no hot spots which is a big bonus when heating soup.
3. The food honestly tastes better than when it is microwaved.
4. I don’t burn my fingers carrying a hot bowl from the microwave back to my office.
5. My food doesn’t cool down as I’m carrying it from the microwave back to my office.
6. In the summer when I sometimes like to eat at a local park, I can just unplug the crockpot, wrap the cord around the base and take it with me. It is well enough insulated that with the lid on the food will stay hot for at least 30 minutes after unplugging it.
7. Good value. I paid $16 for it over a year ago and I would easily be willing to pay that again if this one ever stops working (but so far it shows no sign of that).
8. No smell while food is heating. As long as the lids are on, there is zero odour so I have no problem using this at my desk.
9. Safety. Here’s the big reason that finally prompted me to post a review. Last Friday I was interrupted during lunch and I plugged my crockpot back in so the food would stay warm until I had time to eat the rest of it. Well I forgot about it entirely until Sunday night when I went looking for the crockpot bowl so I could pack my lunch for Monday.

I refuse to use microwave ovens, so this is the reason I purchased this item. This little crock pot is super cute so first thing I should point out is EVERYONE has to comment on how cute it is and wants to know more about it. There are some issues. 1) the cord wraps around the unit easily enough, but the actual plug is difficult to tuck into its designated nesting place on the bottom of the unit. 2) the cover of the inside pot is difficult to remove. I have never been able to remove it without inserting some object along the edge to nudge it off. 3) the unit is TINY. If you are a big eater this is not going to contain enough food to satisfy you - just saying. The outside of it is plastic, but the interior pot is metal. I just leave the exterior unit at work and take the interior unit back and forth, so it's very convenient, as long as you put the pot in a bag so the contents don't accidentally spill out.
