5.0 out of 5 stars great radio Feb 4 2012
It was bought at a gift and the recipient LOVED it, he loves old type radios and this radio has that old fashion look. The Radio came quickly. Good quality sound. Nice it plays CD and has an alarm too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice & nostalgic radio! April 28 2013

My dad had a radio repair shop in the 50's and 60's and I grew up surrounded by radios of various vintages. This radio brings back many memories of the plastic and bakelite super-hets that I played around with back then. This modern take on that sort of radio works great (better than the originals actually - very few radios had FM back then mainly because there were very few FM stations!) The closed cabinet and ported speaker design sounds very good with a very satisfying bass response. The lighted dial is a nice authentic touch which is lacking on most reproduction radios. However, my one complaint is that the dial is lighted by a super white-bright LED which is NOT very authentic. It would be better to have a dimmer, yellow coloured light.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money...Mine is just awful! Feb 22 2008
By Tom Sanders - Published on Amazon.com
I loved the picture of this item...I had just the place to put it in my home where it would look great. It does look great. It just hardly works. The whole thing only weighs a pound or two...this should have clued me in right away when unpacking it. The switches have an imprecise and awful feel and seem very delicate. The sound quality is very poor (Remember those less than $5 transistor radios?) and the reception is worse. Even the strongest stations in my area only come in with a great deal of fuzzy sound and you can always hear the radio stations near them in the back ground. I haven't bought anything electronic that was this bad in years. Don't be fooled by the good looks...in this case beauty really is only skin deep.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute and retro! Jun 7 2008
By Holly - Published on Amazon.com
My son got this for Christmas and for some weird reason it would not always play when we pushed play for the cd....sometimes we had to push the button several times then push stop to get it to play...it would also switch to military time at random. These things happen even with the best of electronics, sometimes exchanges need to be made. We ordered another and returned the first one, we haven't had any problems and it has been working perfectly. It looks great in his room, and we love it! I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a cute retro style radio. My son loves cars and it goes perfectly in his room with all of his vintage car signs. We also plan to purchase it in pink for our daughter. Overall it is a great radio/cd player!

2.0 out of 5 stars Cute, but tempermental April 26 2010

I purchased this for my daughter's 7th birthday for the CD alarm function. She is thrilled that she can choose what she wakes up to in the morning and it makes getting up for school a little easier. I wanted a radio that a little girl would like (it's pink) without being too young (I don't do characters). She loves it and is often in her room just listening to her music. The sound quality is not great, but fine given the audience in this case. What is troublesome is the sensitive switches. Every night I check that the CD is the right volume and make sure the alarm is set to "CD." However, many mornings, my daughter wakes up to the buzzer despite the settings. I check all the time to see if it was my mistake. It's still set to CD mode, but the radio seems to have a mind of its own. It's an upsetting way for her to start the day. As was stated in an earlier review, the CDs do not always play immediately. I find I have to turn the power off and on again and play with it, otherwise the disc will just spin. I am disappointed and would not get another one.
