Book Description

In the cruel world of the ghetto, you grow up with violence, murder, drugs and prostitution. The pure love Shelly Webster and Eric Draven shared was a beautiful miracle, a tender rose in a wild, overgrown garden. But their lives were cut short when a wrong apartment number led a gang of drug lords to mistakenly murder them only days before their wedding. Now, Eric haunts the city as the Crow, a shadow administering revenge for not only his loss, but for others as well. A police officer enlists the aid of the Crow to uncover the truth about the jailed suspect of a murdered 9 year-old girl. Will justice be served or will the wrong man be sentenced? As the Crow is flushing out information about the murder, he discovers that Shelly`s grave has been desecrated. Who has Shelly`s body and why? Share Eric Draven`s misery as he relives another injustice of life in death.

2.0 out of 5 stars McFarlane's foray into the world of The Crow, May 2 2000
This review is from: Crow Volume 2 Evil Beyond Reach (Paperback)
This book collects issues 7 - 10 and 4 of Todd McFarlane's short-lived Crow series. McFarlane bought the rights to the Crow, but the comic was cancelled after issue 10, because nobody really liked it. Jon J Muth does have a writing talent, unfortunately somebody made the mistake of trying to continue Eric Draven's story, rather than beginning anew.

If you decide to buy this book, do so only for the art, and not for the storyline. It's a shame, considering the vast talents McFarlane has at his disposal

4.0 out of 5 stars The final chapter, Sep 17 2007
By Steven Scott "LeChuck" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Crow Volume 2 Evil Beyond Reach (Paperback)
This book continues with the team behind The Crow: Vengeance. While that book was decent enough, it set up a nice tone for this continuation which is a bit of an improvement.

In this story, Eric is struggling with the fact that after he avenged his lovers death he is still around. His crow tells him that there is still work to be done and he needs to wipe out anyone infected with the "virus". We begin to see the a partnership forming between Eric and Officer Albrecht who worked on the case of Eric and Shelly's murder. Albrecht's son has been accused of murdering a young girl and so Albrecht seeks Eric's help to prove his son innocent.

Later on there are a couple new characters introduced. The Skull Cowboy and Mr. Black, both of whose backgrounds are not entirely explained but have supernatural characteristics like Eric. It's unfortunate that this is the final entry in the series so who knows where they could have taken things from here. It is not an overly satisfying ending, but they never intended it to be.
