Powerful drama,
By Helgo (Wetaskiwin, Alberta Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cry, the Beloved Country (DVD)
Quite possibly I am somewhat more qualified than the average North American viewer to review this film as I am an expatriate South African living in Canada. This film is set in the depths of the apartheid era in South Africa and based on a best selling book by Alan Paton. Although the casual viewer might think the film / book sets out to expose the travesties of Apartheid, it really is about the love of a father and how the color of your skin cannot change this aspect of human life.A truly gripping story with excellent acting - you would need a heart of stone to make it through this film without shedding a tear.
