--Alyson NoËl, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author of THE IMMORTALS series.
"Cryer's Cross is creepy, mysterious, and completely absorbing. The intimacy of McMann's small town setting makes this novel especially gripping--and foreboding. Kendall is an excellent protagonist, and her struggles with obsessive-compulsive disorder not only add a whole new fascinating dimension to the story, but the way McMann uses it to uncover a vital clue to the mystery of disappearances in Cryer's Cross is brilliant. Cryer's Cross is peppered with snatches of narrative from the force behind the disappearances, which gives the story extra urgency and suspense, so by the final chapters, you'll hardly be able to keep still. Tragic, emotional, sometimes humorous, and full of tension, Cryer's Cross is one stand-out novel and possibly Lisa McMann's best book yet."

"This book was so, so, so good! [It's] creepy, addicting and the tension builds page by page. I also love the fact that the story concept is completely original! There isn't a werewolf or a vampire to be found in this book :) Go get it! You won't be disappointed!"

"Wow. Just wow. It was absolutely haunting.
I have never read anything that focused around OCD. It was interesting to be in the mind of someone who has it and to know what they are feeling and thinking. Having to obsess over such things must be extremely stressful and [McMann] portrays that beautifully.
I think the story was fantastic. It was very well put together. It was so creepy! Adding the OCD issue made it even more intriguing. I swear at some points of the books I really had goosebumps."

"Lisa McMann, the bestselling author of the Wake trilogy, brings us another exciting thriller with CRYER'S CROSS. As always, she grabs a hold of her readers in the first paragraph and propels them through the pages with trepidation, curiosity and foreboding. Scattered between chapters are short, cryptic messages from an unknown source, adding to the mystery and suspense. In this story, McMann tackles the complications of OCD, and she does so with grace and empathy; one can't help but feel Kendall's frustrations as she attempts to deal with her difficult and confusing disorder. Kendall, of course, is the book's most fascinating character, though others add intrigue as well, including the dark and sullen new boy at school.
CRYER'S CROSS is an exciting page-turner of a thriller that fans will not want to see end, leaving them impatiently waiting for McMann's next book. "

This review is from: Cryer's Cross (Hardcover)
The small town of Cryer's Cross, Montana, has had a rough year. A sophomore girl from the lone school has disappeared, and no one knows what happened. And then, another student goes missing.Kendall loves her home; however, she can't help but want more. The second person to disappear is her best friend and boyfriend, Nico. Kendall is desperate to find out what happened. She notices new graffiti on the desk that Nico sat in at school, and where the sophomore girl sat, as well. Determined to find her boyfriend, she comes across a history that is disturbing. Kendall must put all of the pieces together to solve the mystery. CRYER'S CROSS started off pretty slow, with not much happening. It actually slowed me down on the reading for quite a while. But once the middle of the story hit, things really started picking up speed, and there was just this intense storyline coming out. It was fantastic. I couldn't put the book down - I had to know what was going to happen. I didn't expect the twist that showed up, so I was very surprised. It was a pretty great story, and I loved the ending. I definitely think others will enjoy this. Reviewed by: Ashley B

Creepy Awesomeness,
By Joanne (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cryer's Cross (Hardcover)
Lisa McMann is one of my favorite writers ' I love all of the books in her WAKE trilogy, so I picked this one up, expecting to be freaked out a little in a good way. Just look at that cover! Yeesh! Well this book did not disappoint. It's the story of a very small town where high school kids start disappearing, the latest one being Kendall Fletcher's best friend and sort of boyfriend, Nico. Kendall is barely hanging on as it is with her OCD diagnosis, but when Nico disappears, she starts to really unravel. This book is one seriously creepy page turner that won't let you go until you are finished. And then you'll need to sleep with the lights on. Readers of McMann's other books won't be surprised at the romance threaded through the main plotline of the story, adding another layer to this book's awesomeness.

Dreaming of Books Review,

This review is from: Cryer's Cross (Hardcover)
(May contain spoilers)Cryer's Cross is a small farming town in Montana where everyone knows everyone and when I say small I mean its really small at just over 200 citizens. The small town is shaken when one of their own goes missing. First Tiffany a classmate of Kendall's goes missing then months later Kendall's best friend, Nico has suddenly disappeared too. Kendall has OCD and is something that not many people know about. The two disappearances rattles the town but is especially hard for Kendall to deal with. She's lost her best friend--someone she's been with everyday since childhood. Not only does it disrupt her daily routine but she can't stop thinking about it and imagining what happened to the two of them. In between the chapters there are short paragraphs titled "WE". At first I was so confused because what was in the paragraphs was creepy but it didn't make any sense. So then halfway through the book when Kendall finds the writing on the desk it was then that everything clicked and went into place for me. I went back and reread the excerpts and it all made sense. It gave me goose bumps when I thought about it and that I didn't figure it out sooner. This was my first time reading anything by Lisa McMann and the way she writes in the third person using short sentences with not too many words that is straight forward and gets the point across. The story was full of mystery, suspense and most of all was unpredictable. I knew Nico and Tiffany were missing but what really happened to them. Were they chained up somewhere and still alive (best case scenario) or were they both dead. This was one seat of your pants page turner that had me reading and trying to figure it out right till the very end.
