"Penetrating" Action and Adventure, May 28 2006
By Baron Von Cool - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Cryogenic Nightmare (Paperback)
This is book #24 in The Penetrator series of 1970s men's action/adventure novels. This time, the Penetrator must foil the plot of Preacher Mann, a pimped-out master villain intent on kidnapping, cryogenically freezing and then selling America's most beautiful women to the highest bidder (presumably he unthaws them after he is paid, LOL). The Penetrator also fights a great white shark, because this book came out after Jaws 2 (besides, it was good enough for James Bond in Thunderball).
If you like The Executioner, The Death Merchant and other action series of this type (lone wolf secret agent against the world), then you should like this.
Trivia: "Lionel Derrick" is a house pseudonym of Pinnacle Books; The Penetrator, like The Executioner (after #38), utilized ghostwriters to crank its books out at a blistering pace of one a month. In the case of #24: Cryogenic Nightmare, the real author is Chet Cunningham, who did many of the books in The Penetrator series along with Mark K. Rogers.
