Amazing,

This review is from: Cuff The Duke (Audio CD)
I first saw Cuff The Duke back in 2006 at El Mocambo in Toronto. I never heard of them before but they were playing a gig sponsored by Ryerson University where I attended school. I didn't think much of it at first but figured I couldn't pass up a $[...] show. Turns out this was the best $[...] I have ever spent! They played a solid set and I instantly became a fan. Next day I went out to Sam The Record man and bought their CD.!! The only disappointment to tell of is not being able to buy their first album as no record stores sell it anymore :(I highly recommend this band to anyone !!

I'd never heard of them until i went with some friends to a little place called the eBar and i was instantly impressed. Their vigor onstage was amazing, they couldnt have put on a better show. I bought the album right then and there to find out that every song was as solid as they perfectly recreate their songs. great good grood album. I have to say, i abide by the cliche motto that "i like everything but country" but this music is dripping with it and yet i still love it. Its fused with alternative rock and indie-like sounds which make you tottally accept the harmonika and canned train sounds. Its inspired me to actually give country music a chance, which is a pretty scary thing for me and a pretty enormous feat for Cuff the Duke to acheive.

I must say that the name "Cuff The Duke" really threw me off, but man it was worth getting this cd. The music is fresh, and has a unique twist of country and indie pop threaded together with the alternative. If you like R.E.M. or Wilco, you will definitely like this album as it is a great example of how alternative country is unique, and not boring like maintstream country.
