I bought my wife this popcorn maker in February 2011 (for valentine's day). It was the most used appliance in our house (topping our BBQ and expresso maker), used probably close to 300 times (yes, we DO love popcorn and make a batch almost every single day, and many times 2 or even 3 batches a day). After 1 year of extensive usage, it finally gave up (the metal base detached from the plastic handles and doesn't stay in place - now there's a gap where kernels jump off the chamber whenever we use it). We were disappointed, since it cost about $50, but hey - it paid off for itself several times, not to tell about the health benefits of this over Microwave popcorn. It pops virtually 100% of the kernels and does not burn anything, provided you use the right amount of oil (about a teaspoon per full batch). And the popcorn tastes great! It is definitely a 5 star, but keep in mind durability may be a concern. As mentioned above, ours lasted for about 300 batches (this is my best estimate). We never put it in the dishwasher and always took good care of it.
