I really liked this EP. I was hooked with the single "Call me Maybe", not my usual stuff but I really appreciate the music. It's fun, charming and energetic. I bought this for my sister and for me. :)

Carly Rae was my favourite on Canadian Idol in 2007. So when she came in third, I thought she was robbed. Then it seemed that we wouldn't hear from her again. Then when I heard "Call Me Maybe" on the radio and her name, I was thrilled for her!Today, I saw her U.S. debut on The Ellen Degeneres Show and I was ecstactic for her! I bought her album tonight and I'm on here buying a copy to send to my youngest daughter who looks a lot like her with her big blue eyes and dark brown hair. The radio doesn't do "Call Me Maybe" justice. It sounds amazing on my car stereo with my amp and sub behind the base, even if I don't play music that loud. In fact, the whole album sounds great. The songs on this album make me want to get up and dance and at my age (I'm a 48 y/o grandmother) it's important to keep moving. However, I can see from her Twitter page that I'm far from representative of Carly Rae's fan base, who are mostly half my age. I didn't think I'd like the upbeat version of Joni Mitchell's classic, "Both Sides Now" because I'm usually such a purest when it comes to things like that, but I really do! It was really well done. My only complaint is that there's too few songs and they're too short, but the price reflects that. Hopefully, the next album will have more and longer songs. Keep up the good work, Carly Rae--you rock! So glad to see things are finally happening for you and you really deserve it!

Track-by-Track Review,

2012 seems to be seeing a resurgence in teen pop. Carly Rae Jepsen isn't exactly a teen anymore, but she's definitely gone for a more bubbly, pop-oriented sound with this EP. In my opinion, it's not a second too soon.1. Call Me Maybe - This is blowing up radio all over the world, and for good reason. It may end the year as the catchiest single of 2012. I just can't see how anyone could resist this, from the buoyant melody to the strings-assisted, incessant hook. 10/10 2. Curiosity - A one two punch, and the next single if her management are smart. It's not quite as hit-you-over-the-head terrific as the last track, but there's a bunch of subtle hooks that will keep you coming back. Best is that wordless, post-chorus refrain. 10/10 3. Picture - Slowing things down a bit, but she still sticks with the glossy production. This suffers just a little bit because it brings down the energy after the ridiculously awesome openers. Still, I could see this as a potential single (kind of reminiscent of Owl City's "Fireflies" from a few years back). 8/10 4. Talk To Me - Back to more of an uptempo sound, but this straddles the lines between her older, more acoustic sound and the newer, glossy stuff. Its bubblegum melody definitely goes down easy. 9/10 5. Just A Step Away - Fans of her older material will like this. It's far more "acoustic" than the past four tracks. Of everything, it feels the most like filler to me, but it's alright. It actually reminds me a little bit of Mandy Moore when she went through her "mature" phase, musically. 7/10 6. Both Sides Now - This is a cover of the Joni Mitchell classic, but it's been given a faster, poppier update. Some purists might scoff, but I find myself completely obsessed with it. It's such a great song anyway... it would probably sound great in any genre. 10/10 Album Grade - 9.0/10
