Though the members of Doc Walker would probably call their band “country,” the term has been pushed to some pretty tenuous limits of late and seems to mean different things to different people. Doc Walker definitely falls on the rock side of the tracks and the band mixes in a lot of pop harmonies, much like Blue Rodeo or the Bottle Rockets. Some of the best moments on Curve, in fact, are the ones that stray the farthest from the country formula, such as “Boston,” “Rocket Girl” and “Son of Daniel.” Loaded with talent, these young bucks would be better off relying less on outside songwriters and concentrating on honing their own skills. They have the musical chops and can harmonize like angels, but if they keep chasing hit singles via Nashville’s proven “hitmakers,” they’ll continue to end up recording duds like “I’m Just Waiting,” “You Can Do That to Me,” and “Whoever Made Those Rules,” which packs more clichés into three-plus minutes than your average pro athlete is capable of spouting in a career. In spite of a few missteps Curve is a fun, energetic album from a lively band. --Adem Tepedelen

Curve is a good cd. If you're looking for country music that's not twangy, has a beat and fun lyrics this is it. Not only is this album great, Doc Walker is absolutely amazing concert. Maybe I'm a little biased with the whole hometown thing, but these guys are great. They're definitely not traditional country music, but this cd is good stuff.

This CD by Doc Walker is so awesome :) There are a lot of great songs on it! Songs like Rocket Girl, Call Me a Fool, Whoever Made Those Rules and many more will get you hooked on Doc Walker!! These guys have done so well with this CD and Everyone Aboard!! I can't wait to see what their future CD's will be like!!
