Review

"...a most easily understood formula for taking back lives and getting over hurdles that keep us from our goals." -- Emory W. Mulling, Chairman, The Mulling Companies; Author, The Mulling Factor: Get Your Life Back by Taking Control of Your Career

"...no-nonsense, straightforward and useful method...to understand how obstacles keep us from reaching our goals...." -- Pat DeLeon, Ph.D., Past President, American Psychological Association

"This is my kind of book -- no excuses, no-nonsense, concise, and highly encouraging." -- Lewis Losoncy, Ed.D., The Doctor of Encouragement; Author, If It Weren't for You, We Could Get Along

Book Description

C.R.A.P. is how we unwittingly and unconsciously victimize ourselves. It is what sabatoges careers, destroys relationships, creates unmanageable finances, and makes us forget about the need to exercise and eat properly. C.R.A.P. is with all the time, just looking for opportunities to destroy hope and minimize achievement. It becomes habitual and unconsicious, it lies unexamined, destroying without being acknowledged as the destroyer. We even blame our internal C.R.A.P. on external causes. The good news is that is can be conquered. Learn how to overcome the "C" (Catastrophizing), the "R" (Rationalizing), the "A" (Agonizing), and the "P" (Procrastination) that holds you back. You'll be surprised how easy it really can be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, Aug 7 2002
This review is from: Cut the C.R.A.P.: And Resolve Your Problems (Paperback)
"Cut the CRAP and Resolve Your Problems" is one of, if not the best, self-help books of the past 5 years (That is -- besides the book I wrote, THE PROCRASTINATOR'S HANDBOOK.) Why? Because it delivers on its promise of being a simple yet compelling process to help each of us achieve our goals. What Drs. Cox and Sanders have done is to distill into four easy to remember words, the four things that we all do to get in our own way. These four words--Catastrophizing, Rationalizing, Agonizing and (my favoritie) Procrastinating--are explained in detail both as to what they are and how they act as obstacles to success. For example, if you are deeply in debt, it is primarily related to rationalizing. If you are still in the same job after 10 years, it is probably due to agonizing. And, of course, if that degree program isn't yet completed, it is probably due to procrastinating.

The exercises are really helpful and I liked the way the authors recommend that you read the book first, then go back through and do the exercises. In summary, if you let it, this book can really make a difference in your life.
