Great, authentic recipes. Aug. 8 2014
By Emily - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
I found this cookbook in the library and will shortly be ordering my own copy from Amazon. I lived in the Czech Republic for a year and miss the ready access to delicious Czech food just minutes from my front door. This cookbook is the perfect substitute.

It has a wealth of traditional Czech recipes, along with some of my personal favourites. So far I have made the halusky and the sweet pepper stew, both of which were wonderful, simple and tasted absolutely perfect. I am planning to make almost every single recipe in the book. The only recipe I wish it included that is missing is a recipe for medovnik, or honey cake, which I used to eat all the time in Prague. There are enough tempting desserts though that I don't mind too much.

I heartily recommend this cookbook to anyone who wants to try out some authentic Czech and Slovak cooking - the recipes range from simple to more complex, so it is ideal for cooks of any level.

I recommend this book to everyone who wants to try Czech cuisine. You will not find only recipes in this book but also a little bit about Czech history, geography, traditions etc.

Some interesting material, many recipes are close to useless. Jan. 27 2014
By Daniel Snedigar - Published on Amazon.com

Not without some merit, but this is not a very good cookbook, and certainly not for an amateur cook. Many of the recipes skip important steps or are terribly vaguely written, perhaps problems with either the writing or editing of this book.

Not really worth the money, you could get better Czech and Slovak cooking advice from the internet.

Overall a disappointment.

Can't wait to cook with my sisters Jan. 6 2014

I have the green american slovak cookbook from my mom, but this is a great addition I couldn't put it down. I like the list of restaurants in USA too and just enough history about the dishes that it made me feel connected to my roots. I ordered a used book said VG condition it was really band new and arivied in 5 days. Very happy with purchase
