My original setup was to send the internet from my cable modem to my office and a bedroom upstairs. My TV's were all on coax and pvr's and it worked beautifully. Speed testing is dependant on your housing and the wiring hidden in behind the walls. In my situation its a 20yr old house and the speed test results I got were about 10mbps through the powerline, however I could get about 20mbs on my wifi 2 rooms away. So if full bandwidth is what you require, you might not be happy. I recently cancelled the cable TV subscription and went with some popular internet streaming services, but the amount of bandwidth available isn't enough to share multiple streams across the network. As well I found that sometimes these powerlines quit working and need to be unplugged to reset them, just often enough to be annoying. You sit down to watch or play something on the xbox and no internet...unplug/plug in then reset your device...gets old after a bit. I also looked into those coax to ethernet adapters (since I have coax ran to pretty much every room in my house), but they are $100 a connection point, so I think I'll be running cat5e cables throughout my house next week.Read more ›
(1) You can connect 3 devices with Ethernet connections to this one adapter. So if you have several devices in one location it is the way to go.
(2) You don't lose a power outlet like with most Powerline adapters. If you have limited outlets this is a great option.
If you have the above requirements then paying a premium for this device is more than worthwhile. If not get the less expensive Powerline AV500 adapters without these extra features.
Network performance has been great. Recommended.
