Product Description

From Amazon.com

BMX beginners and pre-beginners would do well to get absorbed in this primer on basic trick techniques. Dave Mirra, a.k.a. "The Miracle Man" for his phenomenal success as a X athlete, is the right man to guide one through essential tricks on flat ground and ramps. He's not alone, of course. Special guests Ryan Nyquist, Kip Williamson, and Colin Winkelmann are also there to show us how to choose and buy a bike, how to execute a few parking lot tricks (180 bunny hop, 360 bunny hop, etc.), how to perform more advanced maneuvers on the grind box (the feeble grind, double-peg grind, smith grind), and what to do on a mini-ramp. It's all straightforward but quite friendly; the enthusiasm of Mirra and company is certainly infectious and makes one want to try a box jump as soon as possible. --Tom Keogh

Video Details

Dave Mirra partners up with Ryan Nyquist and Mike Laird to show you the BMX basics. Dave begins with helping you buy a bike, riding, balancing, turning, braking, pedaling, etc. Next, Dave and Mike continue with the foundations of BMX on the street and progress by teaching you the Endo. Dave and Ryan connect up on the mini ramp and go over Mini Ramp basics: carving, dropping in and mini-airs.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the TRUE beginner, May 20 2003

Just learned to ride that BMX of yours? You will want to pick this dvd up if you want to get to the ramps. Not much in the way of flatland/freestyle riding. Just enough to get you going for the ramps. I don't have any skate parks near me so flatland/freestyle is the most I can hope for. Why do they tear down kids dirt ramps in vacant fields? I'm 25 and I say it stinks! Anyhow, the real beginner will appreciate this dvd, and so will mom and dad. Covers safety often and most importantly (to mom and dad's wallet) what to look for in a first bike! GET TO IT!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Art of BMX, Mar 20 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: D.Mirra S Trick Tips Vol.1 (DVD)
I was looking for something new to do. ESPN's X-Games showed me the light. It was time for me to get into bmx. I decided on bmx over skateboarding due to the fact that I found the bike more useful in everyday life. Having ignored the bmx craze in grade school, and then ignoring the skateboard and bmx scene in highschool/college, and having no friends who give a hoot about bmx I was on my own.

So I bought the DVD. Who better to learn from then the Miracle Man himself, plus I bought a Mirra 540 bike.

The DVD starts off with basic flatland tricks (most useful to me, bunnyhop, 180, 360, bar-spinning) and then moves onto ramp/vert (of no use to me, but still interesting). The pace is quick though and the DVD is not long.

You can watch it all you want but practice is what is really needed. If you have firends who bmx and you can already do the basics, skip the DVD.

This DVD is more for the true beginner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Beggining Point for BMX, Oct 12 2002

I have been riding BMX for years and I'm very good. I wish I had this movie when I started off. REcently my friend let me borrow the movie. I watched it and it was awesome. BMX can be a hard sport and can be kind of dangerous but with this movie you can have an easier. I am 15 and have been BMXing since I was 7 years old. If I have had that movie then I would have been a lot better. I hear that volume 2 is going to be so much better with more advancr tricks. I'm more of a dirt jumper and I hear there will be dirt juming in it. This movie makes you wanna get your bike and go out and ride. So what ever you do don't watch it on a rainy day.
