Left 4 Deep, Dec 10 2011
This review is from: DEEP RIVER:The Island (DVD)
What can be better than a zombie movie set in your hometown - how about one that you and your family appear in as zombie extras!
Its got B (or maybe C) movie all over this which could make for a good Zombie cult classic - good makeup (I can still taste the fake blood), zombie gore, some fun acting & stunts. And we were in it!

Now yer in Deep!!!!, Nov 20 2011
This review is from: DEEP RIVER:The Island (DVD)
As a former Deep Riverite, I love this movie. The town scenery and landmarks are included to create the realistic feel of any small town in Ontario. The characters in the movie are likeable and realistic. It may not be Oscar material, but it does have the making of a Cult Classic. Definitelly recommend to anyone who has any relation to the small town of Deep River. I also recommend to anyone who enjoys a good movie without the Hollywood hype. YOU WILL enjoy this movie!!

Home Undead Home, July 23 2011
This review is from: DEEP RIVER:The Island (DVD)
When news hit the small Ontario town of Deep River that plans were in the works for a local zombie movie, I was beyond excited. Having grown up in the area and being a huge zombie fanatic, seeing the trailer gave me chills. This was my home and these were places I knew well. Though I personally was unable to take part, many of my friends and acquaintances had starring roles as the walking dead. During the filming we all became accustomed to watching the local extras shamble around the town while decked out in their full make-up and costumes.
It was a bit unsettling to say the least.
When the movie was finally edited a movie release was hosted at the Deep River Legion and many from the town attended. I enjoyed greatly seeing the many local faces and places. The mythology wasn't my favourite but a movie that included so many people I knew was fun and more than a little intriguing. For the past three years I have proudly displayed the poster I bought as proof that just because we're small town, doesn't mean we don't have big dreams.
If you're looking for a great Canadian movie, with a small town feel: this is the one. Anyone who ever attended Summerfest, bought groceries at Fleury's, played or watched a game on the football field, walked down by the river or even just passed through on the highway should take the time to watch this movie. If you're from a small Ontario town, join The Valley during the summer we were taken by zombie fever. I'll be passing this link around to everyone I know for sure.
Warning: The movie does contain some nudity and traditional zombie goriness as well as a few unsettling scenes. Not for children, parental guidance recommended before family viewing.
