Product Description

Product Description

2007 release of a French album from the international singing sensation. "Elle" is the French word for "she" and this project features performances penned by choice female francophonic songwriters: Fran‡oise Dorin, Christine Orban, Nina Bouraoui, Marie Laberge, Lise Payette, Denise Bombardier, Nathalie Nechtschein, Jovette Alice Bernier, Janette Bertrand and George Sand. Long time pal & collaborator and fellow French superstar Jean-Jacques Goldman supervised the musical aspects of this project once again to perfection. Among the tracks is the first single "Et S'il N'en Restait Qu'une (Je Serais Celle-l…)". This special edition includes a bonus DVD with a featurette about the recording of the album along with Celine's personal notes about the sessions and collectable postcards!

--Pascale Millot --This text refers to an alternate Audio CD edition.

As a francophone, I have enjoyed her French recordings, especially her earlier work, but this album seems over-produced and somewhat repetitive. She coulld do better....

This might just be Celine's finest work ever. Although specifically tailored for the French audience, Celine's passion flows magnificently and effortlessly throughout this absolute gem. From her first single "Et s'il n'en restait qu'une (je serais cella-la)" longing and crisp vocals to a sure fire hit "Femme comme chacune" that may very well crossover to Billboard's HOT AC chart this Summer. This album is dedicated to women. And she does not fall short in delivering an absolute stunning tribute. The songs meld into a beautiful potpourri of emotions and brilliantly executed vocals. If this is your one and only CD purchase in the Summer of '07, buy it. Seductive, emotional and fabulous.

Amazon continues to drop the ball with this album. First, they had the wrong artist name (Celion), and now two weeks to release, still no track listing. There is also two other editions. One with a dvd (of course, amazon doesn't describe what's on it!) and a booklet about Celine. The other comes with a perfume sample and larger booklet. I believe these two are limited editons.

This album is sort of a sequel to Celine's 1995 smash album D'Eux (for them). D'Elles means the same but specifically for women. (Quick french lesson - eux refers to a group of men or men and women. Elles refers to a group of women). All of the songwriters are women. You don't need to understand french to love Celine when she sings in her native tongue. I don't understand most of it and I think it's breathtaking.
