5.0 out of 5 stars A Breath Of Fresh Air April 2 2012
By Gordon Strachan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I hadn't paid any attention to JSS since I saw him onstage with Yngwie Malmsteen back in 1985 on the Marching Out tour, but I sure am now.I watched the video for "Look Inside Your Heart" on Blabbermouth and wondered if the rest of "Damage Control" was as good.I'm here to tell you it definitely is.From the 1st track to the last this cd is like a breath of very, very fresh air.The arrangements, musicianship, songwriting and needless to say Soto's vocals are unbelievable. He really, really dug down into his soul on this album. You'd be doing yourself a huge favor to buy this cd.Every once in a long while a release comes along that smacks you upside the head and this lp is it!If you like good trad metal than you won't go wrong with this.Amen

4.0 out of 5 stars Back to the future! Mar 30 2012
By Michael - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Jeff Scott Soto is one of the greatest melodic rock singers of all time and Damage Control is his strong return to the hard rock style that he is known for. This is an album that Jeff Scott Soto had to make following his underwhelming previous album Beautiful Mess which left a lot of long time fans scratching their heads. Damage Control will leave nobody confused as it contains passionate melodic vocals, awesome guitar riffs and solos, and a huge production to back it all up. Highlights include the hard rocking opener "Give A Little More", the Talisman influenced sound of "Look Inside Your Heart", the memorable chorus of "Die A Little", and the amazing power ballad "Bonafide" which contains that trademark Jeff Scott Soto passionate vocal delivery. The deluxe edition of Damage Control is essential as it contains 3 bonus tracks that are killer including the strong rocker "Take U Down", the brilliant melodies of "Elena", and the heavy groove of "Afraid To Die". Despite the fact that Damage Control doesn't really forge any new paths for Jeff Scott Soto, it does put him back where he belongs as an elite artist of melodic rock. Damage Control is highly recommended to all Jeff Scott Soto fans but doesn't quite hit the heights of his best solo album Lost In The Translation or his previous amazing collaboration W.E.T.
