Gets dad up off the couch; kids have a hoot!,

This review is from: Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party Bundle (Video Game)
This game is, quite literally, fun for the whole family. I can beat my [...] now but I'll bet that with a bit of practise, they'll start trouncing me. My 12 year old gives me a run for my money. Basically, the game is a great equalizer. For each song, there are four difficulty levels. The easiest is easy but the next level up is quite tough initially. I would have never believed that the top level is humanly possible until I watched a well-practised (and talented) young friend bopping around on her XBOX version of the game. Wow! She was flying. So, it *can* be done but I doubt I'll ever reach that level. The only problem that I have with the game is that one chooses the character before choosing the dance. If you want to take turns with a single mat, you have to go (B)ack quite a bit, reselect the other character, and then navigate forward again. The end result is too much delay between the actual dancing. Aside from that minor quibble, it's a lot of fun. I kept my 12-year-old up late last night so that I'd have an excuse to play. Pretty silly for a 44-year-old father.

Dance Dance, Where's the Party,

This game may be okay for people whom are unconditional fans of the "genre" but the performances and the choice of soundtracks really are a let down.I had more fun playing with Raving Rabbids 2 in the music modes than this game. Still, the execution, graphics sound quality are all up to par. Hope they can make it up by finding some real party tunes as were present in the Raving Rabbids game.

Though I love actually being able to get a DDR game for the only console that I actually have, Hottest Party is really only good for the casual player. I found it seriously lacked the challenge - and speed! - of other games in the series, and so anyone who expects to actually have to WORK at it should look elsewhere. While fun as a diversion, Hottest Party lacks the staying power (and music!) of other DDR titles.
