MISS Sharon Jones, Miss SHARON Jones! As soon as Binky Griptite introduces this diva of funk, my backend already starts doin' the dap dip. Sharon Jones offers an energy on this funky album that is a phenomenon in itself; the deep groove of the Dap Kings keeps you moving the whole night. While I whole-heartedly recommend the CD, nothing is better than a live show: Tour dates and locations are posted at www.daptonerecords.com.

Vicki Anderson, Lyn Collins, Marva Whitney.Is Sharon Jones part of this line of ladies that James Brown produced in the late 60s/ early 70s, and kept her stuff in the can for all these years? NO! She's out there cookin' NOW with a great band and recording in NYC for Daptone Records. If you're into any of the ladies mentioned above, or you've heard anything else on Daptone or Desco, YOU NEED THIS!

I'd been looking for a sound like this ever since I got my first Poets of Rhythm and Greyboy All-stars Cd's. Sharon Jones is powerful as are the bass lines, the songs sound familiar, and yet the band has a unique sound, that sets it apart from other funk music I've heard
