Excellent,
By
This review is from: Dario Argento Tribute (Audio CD)
This album is fantastic if your into opera rock or progressive, a good source of vocals and the music is power with drama and fine keyboard playing intencity, here's your chance to see them live, this group will be playing in Gettysburg P.A. Rosfest, next may 21 as headliner, just can't wait to feel the energy from their performance. This album is drama, intense, energy, a little bizare at times, opera, even Pink Floyd influence on certain guitar licks, I certainly recommend this album.

A "chilling" musical tribute to a master of horror...,
By Crowley Fralick Jr. - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Dario Argento Tribute (Audio CD)
Having been a long time fan of the great Italian prog rock/horror soundtrack group Goblin, as well as a fan of Dario Argento, I was very excited when I discovered the Argento Tribute album from Daemonia. I was also very pleased to learn that one of the chief members of Goblin, Claudio Simonetti, was the mastermind of Daemonia.
Besides covers of Goblin's soundtrack titles, compositions from Keith Emerson, Giorgio Gaslini and Ennio Morricone are included. The recording quality is very good. A great mix of prog rock and orchestrial styles. Inspired performances from the musicians add to the overall mood of the album. I highly recommend this album to fans of Goblin and Claudio Simonetti. The classic original music from Goblin (although great) now sounds somewhat dated and their albums seem to have uneven mixes at times. Simonetti and Damonia have done a fantastic job of trying to bring the music up to date with modern production and musicial styles. All in all, this album has been a real treat for me. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful:

Good Stuff For Argento Lovers,
By Michael A. Mccullough "Doctor Fear" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Dario Argento Tribute (Audio CD)
i purchased this C.D. becuase I am a Goblin "freak" (ha-ha), and really wanted to see how the new group stacks up. I was not dissapointed! The songs featured on this disc are quite good, with the smooth Goblin style very much in evidence. In addition to the hard to find stuff(the "Killer,Killer" theme from Demons, for example), there's the usual haunting themes that by now are very much old favorites, such as Suspiria's main theme, tracks from Deep Red,and a great alternate theme from Tenebrae. Highly recomended.

Sinister Symphonic Melodic Prog,
By Steven Sly - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Dario Argento Tribute (Audio CD)
Daemonia was formed by former Goblin leader Claudio Simonetti in the late 90's. The band's music carries on the tradition of Goblin as Claudio has surrounded himself with a fine crop of young musicians. I have to admit not being all that familiar with Goblin's work and really only discovered Daemonia after booking them for Progday 2006 (which unfortunately they eventually did not play). The Daemonia disc is excellent with covers of old Goblin material and works from other composers. It is all done with a contemporary style that brings the music up to date. Dark, sinister, and at times downright creepy, the music on this disc is perfect for a dark stormy night. The music is all instrumental with the exception of some female non lyrical vocal work. The music is symphonic / melodic prog for the most part with plenty of outstanding keyboard work from Simonetti.
