If you are planning on getting any of the Horus Heresy audio books you need to know one thing, they are not audio books. These CDs are audio dramas. They are short stories that take place during the Horus Heresy era of the Warhammer 40k universe. All dialog in the stories are acted out by the person "reading" the story. There is also sound effects from battles and music.
These stories are great if you are following the Heresy book series.

I enjoy these WH40K audio dramas, although I don't think this one provides the entertainment value of later releases. Of the two stories on this CD, I prefer "The Dark King" as it provides more details to the background and character of Konrad Curze, Primarch of the Night Lords Legion. "The Lightning Tower" focuses on Rogal Dorn, Primarch of the Imperial Fists Legion and is more introspective, making him seem more human than superhuman.
If you are not familiar with the Warhammer 40,000 universe, these audio dramas are not the place to start. If you are already a fan, then I highly recommend the audio drama CDs.
