Review

'Feehan has a knack for bringing vampiric Carpathians to vivid, virile life in her Dark Carpathian novels..." (Publishers Weekly) 'satisfying action adventure romance ... Love and danger are a winning combination in Feehan's latest' (Booklist) 'The exciting and multifaceted world that impressive author Christine Feehan has created continues to improve with age' (Romantic Times) --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Book Description

For two thousand years Carpathian twins Gabriel and Lucian were vampire hunters. But then, Lucian turned vampire, forcing Gabriel to hunt him. Lucian and Gabriel battled each other for centuries until two hundred years ago, when Gabriel sacrificed his freedom, trapping Lucian and himself in the earth of a Parisian cemetery. Now, modern construction work within the cemetery has disturbed their resting place and Gabriel and his dark brother Lucian are raised from the rubble. Weakened and in desperate need of blood, Gabriel fears he will lose his own soul before he can restore his strength. Fate is on his side when Francesca, a uniquely gifted healer, comes to his aid. Gabriel instantly recognises that she is his lifemate, and must convince Francesca before it is too late: Lucian is on their trail, and will let nothing stand in the way of his eternal conflict with his brother. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Perfect, Jan 4 2002
I have read and own every single one of Christine Feehan's brilliant "Dark" series. I love Gregori and Savannah's stories in particular. But this story, of Gabriel and Francesca is, simply put, the best she's ever written. Gabriel is not your typical Carpathian, nor is Francesca.

Although Carpathian, Francesca has managed to fly "under the radar" of the all-knowing Carpathian males, including Mikhail, their prince, all of her life. After escaping in childhood from her homeland, she makes a life as an artist and philanthropist in Paris, by daringly shielding herself from the powerful Carpathian males. Gabriel, half of the powerful, legendary twins, who went to ground after a terrible batter, has awakened to find his world much changed. He meets Francesca upon rising and realizes almost immediately that she is his lifemate.

Their story is different from the other Carpathian tales in that Gabriel, while incredibly powerful, is not quite a domineering as some of Feehan's other characters. Also, he deeply loves his brother, Lucian, who has become a vampire, and is tormented by the idea of having to kill his brother. While I thought that Gregori was my favorite Carpathian so far, Gabriel leaves him in the dust lifemate-wise.

This book also sets up several intriguing new characters, who I'm sure will have stories soon.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book. I really think it's the best of the series.

Dark Legend

This was a great book.

So far in Ms Feehan's previous books she would tease us with the Dark Warriors.

The legends go about two dark angels of death.
They protect humans and Carpathian's from the destruction of Vampires.

After so many hundreds of years many believe that this was just a legend.
Few knew of their existence and even they had thought that the Dark Twins were gone.
Gabriel and Lucian were as close as any man could be, closer as they loved each other.

However, Lucian could feel that Gabriel was closer to turning to the dark side with each kill of an evil vampire. Lucian figured that if he gave Gabriel something other than a kill to focus on that it would keep him from turning before he found his lifemate.
So, for hundreds of years the two would battle, until one such battle left them both drained. Going underground in the Carpathian way to heal was the only option Gabriel had. Having just awoken and confused Gabriel walked upon Francesca ready to fed, when..........

You will have to read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay Book, Aug 5 2003

I gave Dark Legend 3 stars because the author, Christine Feehan, uses alot of phrases over repeatedly and it gets annoying. (Ex. Hot silk velvet.) Also, I kina found the whole 'mind-reading' thing between Gabriel and Francesca to be sort of cheesy. Everything about Gabriel was the sterotype vampire. I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would because it is alot like other vampire books.
