Feb 28 2010
New Eden, Montana, is a piece of heaven on earth where one woman died in her own private hell. Now it's up to ex-court reporter Marilee Jennings to decipher the puzzle of her best friend's death. But someone has a stake in silencing her suspicion. Someone with secrets worth killing for - and the power to turn this beautiful haven into a . . .Dark Paradise. And as Mari digs deeper beneath New Eden's picture-perfect exterior, finding the truth is suddenly no longer a matter of justice. It's her only hope of staying alive.

Product Description

From Library Journal

Mari Beth leaves her job as a court reporter and her latest failed love affair, jumps in the car, and goes, unannounced, to New Eden, MT, to join her best pal for a few weeks of R&R. When she arrives, she finds the house trashed, her friend dead, and the natives less than friendly. Something about her friend's death is not right, and Mari keeps probing for information. She gets bopped, bashed, and generally mistreated by everyone in New Eden, and this makes her more suspicious. In discovering what really happened to her friend, she also uncovers the deepest secrets of a most unsavory bunch of immoral and unlawful interlopers from Hollywood. Hoag's book is a true romance novel, complete with foolhardy feats of daring, passions simmering just below the surface, and rescue from the brink of death by the strong, handsome hero. Although it is well read by Joyce Bean, the story is less than compelling. Recommended only for comprehensive audio collections. Joanna M. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best, but enjoyable July 3 2004
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is the first book that I have read by Tami Hoag. This is really a romance novel, disguised as a mystery. That said, it was an enjoyable book to read. Slow at times, but during these times, you get a good understanding of the main characters. The ending was predictable, but I would have been mad if it ended any other way.

5.0 out of 5 stars First Person Personified! Jun 29 2004
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Wow! This book really takes the reader into a world the author knows personally! I was hooked; couldn't put it down, regardless of wake-up call time. In my opinion, Ms Hoag is a master at suspense with a complicated, mature interpersonal relationship between the main characters. She also fleshes out the supporting cast members with an equally skillful touch.

Breaking from her usual narrative style, most of this book is given from the first person perspective of our flawed heroin; which proves very appealing and adds pathos to the drama. I loved it! This is Tami Hoag's best book yet!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not her best Feb 28 2004
Format:Mass Market Paperback
In my opinion, this was not Hoag's best work. I found it predictable and the story line weak. I typically enjoy Hoag's work but this was not my favorite.
