I read so many of Miss Feehan's books that I have to take a moment and think. Yes Dark Peril was a very good book. It was an edge of the seat thriller when Dominic had to infiltrate the camp of the Vampires. So thrilling he a Dragonseeker and Solange the last female of the jaguar species'. I love her Carpathian books best of all and eat them up. I have a Kindle which I love to use when traveling, but there is nothing better than a comfy chair and a Christine Feehan book in your hands. Sincerely Rosamond Gikchrist

This book is a love story with a plot concerning conspiring vampires, evil jaguarmen and misguided humans as the background of the actual story of Dominic and Solange.

Like the earliest Carpathian Novels, this book is primarily about two appealing but very isolated people who have found each other and are learning how to love and trust after each was resigned to a life alone.

Dominic Dragonseeker has been intriguing since he was first introduced several books back and most of us who love this "Dark" series have been hoping he would eventually have his own book. I am glad Christine Feehan waited until she got the story of the evil Xavier out of the way. Frankly, the last two novels, Dark Curse and Dark Slayer, were not my favourites; too much repetition about toxic ice caves and viruses or nematodes or whatever they were. Lots of Wiccan kind of dancing to Mother Earth, bad poetry and male posturing with relatively unappealing characters.

Whenever Dominic made a brief appearance in the earlier novels he stole the stage. So I am delighted in this book he lives up to all my expectations. When he strolls into a group of master vampires and they all step back, recognizing that a legend has joined them it was a thrilling moment and I believed completely in their anger and their awe. Dominic never lets us down and manages to be a super Alpha male without being tiresome about it. The man has class!

Solange has been interesting since we first met her many books ago and she also does not disappoint. Her absolute confidence as a warrior and her total lack of confidence as a woman is realistic and touching.

I was looking forward to Dominic's story, but I was disappointed with Ms. Feehan's handling of the characters,as well as the abrupt ending to the storyline.

Solange was too quick to accept her fate considering her previous behaviour with the De La Cruz men; Dominic was too easy going considering his ingestion of vampiric parasites and the conversion was virtually non existent. As for the conclusion, it was so abrupt, it felt that Ms. Feehan was in a hurry to get the story published, that she rushed the final chapter.

Zacharius is possibly the next Carpathian to find his lifemate, and hopefully, his storyline is a little more interesting than Dominic's and Solange.

I was very disappointed in this book. It seems like Ms. Feehan is getting tired of writing these books as much as we are getting tired of reading them. Hopefully Zacharias is the next one and hopefully he lives up to his reputation. Dominic was very boring and Solange, with all her hang-ups, just never seemed to interest me. I can honestly say that this is the first of all the Dark books that I did not like.
