Well, I couldn't wait for it to show up in my local Texas Wal-mart to purchase the DVD of Dark Rising. So, thanks to Amazon.ca (Yay Canada!), I have my very own copy of Dark Rising starring Jay Reso a.k.a "Christian Cage."
What I liked is that the actors knew it had B-Movie all over it and embraced it. And for those not familiar with B-Movie sthick, there is gratuitous nudity, sex, and language. So, if you are a pansy, this movie isn't for you.
The story begins with "Jason" - a guy that is not what society calls manly. He's duped by his ex-fiance "Jasmine" and the only one to really cheer him up is Jay's character "Ricky." There is comedy throughout all the characters, but it's Jay's performance that shine comedic-wise. If you are not used to Canadian humor, this may not be for you either.
With a demon chasing the group of friends which includes "Jasmine's" special friend "Marlene," resident good girl "Renee," and new warrior-like friend "Summer," it does go to campy horror movie cliches. Yet, this is what makes the movie fun.
With the DVD, there are cast and director commentary, a slide show, behind the scenes featurette, deleted scenes, and a TNA Match between "Christian Cage" and "Rhino."
All in all, it's a good buy if you're into independent movies or you just love Jay Reso with unbridled passion. So, peepulation if you're out there, go out there and make "Captain Charisma" happy.
