A great guide to the world of Dark Souls. Well made, high-quality publishing that's very well-put together, both in the quality of the construction and the information inside. My only gripe is that this appears to have been made using older information (the Titanite Demon, for example, is referred to in the book as the Wandering Demon). Either way, it makes a really good coffee table book for a gamer, as its information about the world, NPCs, items, monsters, pretty much everything, is quite extensive. Definitely worth a purchase.

Well thought out and over all a comprehensive guide to all that is Dark Souls. A good book for weapon and item stats/upgrades and also good for finding your way around maps and locating secret areas. When it comes to boss fights, however, the book may fall short for some. When it comes down to it, its going to be you alone who fights the bosses and the book gives no reference of specific equipment or weapons you should be using when you fight particular bosses. For Ornstein and Smough, for example, it is recommended that you use lightning-resistant gear and fire-damage weapons, but the book makes no mention of where to get these items. An experienced player would know, but someone buying this guide with the game certainly would not know where to get this equipment, beyond the fire-damage pyromancy. It would have been nice for direct reference to the gear that would be available to the player at certain points, then that player could simply look up that gear in the book's weapon section and set out to get it.

There is also little explanation of the game's lore, which would have been nice, but certainly not necessary. Overall, when considering how much one gets for the amount they spend, the book is relatively worth it. The guide is nearly 400 pages and is hardcover for long-lasting goodness and is laid out in a way that is visually satisfactory. However, some may find the online Dark Souls wikis to be of more help for getting through those bosses.

I always keep my reviews plain and simple: straight to what you need to know.

Pros:

- Chronologically written walkthrough.
- Area maps included.
- Maps for collectibles' locations.
- Great strategies.

Cons:

- Very few descriptions are not clear.

It comes hard covered, which is nice, and seeing that it's made before the DLC, there is no parts in it about those sections, plus its a bit outdated as they have modified some stats for weapons and armours.
