Another great read,
This review is from: David Busch's Compact Field Guide for the Nikon D5100 (Spiral-bound)
This book fits great in my camera bag for reference in the field if I ever need it or I simply want to play and learn more about all the great functions of my D5100. Good read.

Highly Recommended Reference for D5100,
This review is from: David Busch's Compact Field Guide for the Nikon D5100 (Spiral-bound)
What a pity Nikon could not commission David Busch to write the manual that is included with the Nikon D5100 (and likely for their other DSLR cameras as well)instead of the very deficient and badly composed version that they provide with the camera. This book provided more of what I expected of the manual in terms of information and format and promises to be an invaluable reference as I work my way through what is otherwise, an excellent camera.

Fact-filled compact resource,
By Photo Phunny - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: David Busch's Compact Field Guide for the Nikon D5100 (Spiral-bound)
This is the condensed version of the author's full-sized guide to this camera, with just the most essential guidance you need while taking pictures out in the field. It has all the settings, with instructions for why you should use a certain option and under what conditions you should not use it. There is also a complete description of each control and dial, with explanations all in one place, instead of jumping all over like the manual furnished with the camera does. Its spiral bound and fits in your camera bag and can go with you anywhere. If you want the best field guide for the Nikon D5100, this one is it. If you want to learn in depth photography tips, buy the full-sized guide as well. It's called David Busch's Nikon D5100 Guide to Digital SLR Photography and I purchased it as well. It stays home with me, and this one goes with me when I'm out taking photos.

My favorite D5100 Field Guide,
By P. Sonice - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: David Busch's Compact Field Guide for the Nikon D5100 (Spiral-bound)
I was looking for a small field guide to tuck into my camera bag and carry around with me and my Nikon D5100 camera. I did leaf through a few of the other books at our Borders before it closed, and discovered that this one had everything I needed. It has 7 chapters, a Quick Setup Guide, a Nikon D5100 Roadmap, two chapters describing the menu options you'll need to make when out shooting, a helpful chapter on using flash, one on D-Movies, and a final one called "Shooting Tips" which is filled with advice on how to take good pictures in many different shooting environments. This book has proved very valuable and is my favorite of all the small guides.

Superb Field Guide,
By James Hood - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: David Busch's Compact Field Guide for the Nikon D5100 (Spiral-bound)
This book contains exactly the information I need when out shooting. I can quickly look up the author's advice on settings for particular shooting situations. He lists the most common subjects, such as outdoor sports, indoor sports, all purpose, stage performances, long exposures, HDR, portraits, landscapes, etc. in a chapter full of tables that show every single recommended setting for those situations. There are many other tables I found useful, and when you're away from home, the two chapters of descriptions of why you should select every menu option, and when to use it, is invaluable. When you don't need a lesson on photography, but just want a field guide to supply on the spot advice, this compact book is what you need.
