1.0 out of 5 stars Garbage, horrible, boring, very slow.... Nov 4 2005
Format:DVD
I love zombie movies, and I have liked pretty much everything I have seen. Even though this version was not directed by Romero, I was sure that the directors would still do a decent job.....I was dead wrong.

The movie is boring and has no pace. Goes from a fast pace hit, to a slow, girl meets boy movie. It starts out looking like it will be something worth watching, but after the first 15 minutes it ALL goes down hill.

The plot makes little sense and seems as if the directors have tried to tie it all together by what other film makers have done before. But in the end it makes very little sense. All the actors are nobodies and end up over-acting in many parts of the movie.

The gore is not at all great, it is at best poor to okay. There are two maybe three zombies that were well made, but the rest looked as if some college art student took 5 minutes to do their makeup. Also the zombies, and the people being attacked by the zombies, go down very slowly as if not to hurt themselves or the other actors when fighting with them, making it look very fake.

I love zombie movies. Even the cheesy European ones done 20 years ago where makeup was just grey paint and ketchup, and they did a better job.

Bad, bad movie. Very badly directed and acted. So bad that I had to make sure everyone knows about it. If you REALLY want to see it, rent it first, as not to waste your money buying it. Or you can wait 6-7 months until it hits the bargain bin at the movie store. I give it 2 stars for effort.

3.0 out of 5 stars TREASURE!!! Oct 21 2005
By A Customer
Format:DVD
I love Romeros Dead series & I even liked the 1st ROTLD film.
The newly released Land of the Dead left me a little cold.
Rumors of this Day of the Dead sequel have been circulating for a while and I like everyone else was completly against it because its not Romero in any way shape or form.
So I rented & watched it yesterday and was shocked that I enjoyed it so much.
Yes its pointless and flawed but the story is damn clever.
The filmakers of Dead 2 have managed to squeeze their idea somewhere between Night & Day without too much of a fuss.
The gore is splattered from start to finish and it looks pretty good too.
Where Romero failed with Land was that he didnt show us the full evolution of his zombies AT ALL.
Dead 2 has a wide assortment of zombies and the reason is explained nicely and never goes off course.
Purists who have ssen this movie just tear it to pieces and thats not fair because this film is a fun entry into the world of the dead Romero created years ago.

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid at all costs Oct 20 2005
By N. Durham - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
This movie, and I use that word loosely here, carries the title of Day of the Dead mainly in an attempt to lure in fans of George Romero's "Dead" films. Day of the Dead 2: Contagium, is in no way, shape, or form, associated with the legendary horror director, and is said to be a "tribute". This "tribute" is basically amateurish film making at the very worst, with horrible acting and editing, and the blood and gore effects are incredibly fake looking. The story, or lack there of, attempts to tie into the storyline of Romero's films, but it makes no sense at all. Now I know this crew had little to work with, but amateur horror movies of the past, such as the classic original Evil Dead and even the Dead Next Door, have proven that you can do a lot with a little. The fact that Anchor Bay, which has given us great Special Editions of the aforementioned films and even Romero's Dawn of the Dead and the real Day of the Dead, would release this is mind boggling, but I guess everyone is into cash-in's these days. All in all, Day of the Dead 2 is beyond bad, and it should definitely be avoided by everyone.

2.0 out of 5 stars Yikes Oct 19 2005

I thought Ed Wood was dead. From the bad sets to even worse acting, this movie is not good. Since they only had the rights to the name Day of the Dead, they had to slap a number 2 on the end of the title and put this out. But if you are trying to tie this into the Romero films, this would be more like a prequel to Night of the Living Dead. There is some okay gore, but most of the special effects are very bad. Don't bother with this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Commits the deadly sin of being boring . . . Sep 25 2005
By Mr. Lee A. Marquardt - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
Oh dear! After a slightly entertaining first five minutes (the inept special forces team and least gave me a few laughs as they 'contain' a hospital with their rather pathetic skills), the movie degenerates into a talkfest with dull characters doing amazingly dull things - but do we have an exciting finale? Well no! No no no no no. A few people falling on others and pretending to eat them. The lead characters doing nothing in particular. The lead bad guys doing nothing in particular. A few messy looking zombies that are ineffective because - gasp, the things they are doing are so tension free, relatively goreless and frankly dull.

I'm sorry, folks, but the crime of dullness has been committed . . . this movie is found guilty on all fronts.

I know. You're going to watch it anyway because it has zombies. But I tried to warn you, I really did.
