I recently rediscovered this early one from John Tejada, the only album I own by him, with the exception of his fantastic "Lucid Dream" release, a compilation of stellar early AE and Aphex influenced material, thankfully released on CD. As for Daydreams in Cold Weather, the music matches the title well, with it's beautiful, moody, bittersweet vibe throughout. Don't expect an album full of tracks similar to his newer, more minimal, dance-oriented output. This is much more in the vein of Plaid or classic early Black dog Productions-style IDM. This type of techno was Tejada's first love, before moving on to different territory, and while no style is better than the other, I personally prefer the more melodic, denser home-listening type stuff. So, if you are looking for something similar to the best Plaid work (or were disappointed by their highly anticipated 2011 release), this 2002 gem might be your remedy. Don't sleep on this collection of thoughtful, emotional, quality electronic tunes!
