From the Artist

In many ways, this is the recording most close to my heart. Here, I could recreate and actually play the piano for the romantic repertoire I love so well. This recording also proved beyond a doubt something I have always believed about children: they are expressive, gifted, deep people and we should never talk down to them. On a whim, I went into a junior school and had the children write poetry to Vivaldi's Piccolo Concerto. My only words: "Here we have a high, high piccolo and a low string pad. Write about a magic space in between." The kids wrote for a while, then insisted on reading their words aloud over the music. Even the guinea pig fell silent as their extraordinary words poured into that classroom. This recording is a testament to the talents of children everywhere. It is also a chance for parents to sing with their kids the rounds they sang around the campfire: Dona Nobis Pacem, Hey Ho Nobody Home etc. The last track on Daydreams and Lullabies is my favorite from the entire series: Pachelbel's Canon, overlaid with almost all the melodies which have gone before: serene, radiant, warm, and affirming that there is a kinder gentler universe somewhere. Probably our children are closer to it than we are. Susan Hammond, Classical Kids producer --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

impossible to describe -- bits of classical music, children's rhymes, choir songs, and lullabies all performed as if by the most accomplished symphony on earth. heard it on an npr station while away, and bought it months later, that's how haunting it was. great for any age -- newborn to 100

One of my all-time favorite CD's, ever, of any genre of music. It's absolutely beautiful from start to finish. It's difficult to decribe the effect it has, but of course I have to try. It induces a feeling of peace, well-being, elation. The spirit soars, the ear rejoices. I could listen to it over and over and over -- and have. It never gets stale. One of my favorite times to listen to it is on a long, night drive home as the kids fall asleep in the backseat. I bought this for them, and they love it, too. I can't know if it brings them as much joy as it brings me, but I hope so.

This one of the worst CDs I have bought in a long time. I have listened to it once and will never listen to it again. I bought it based on the other good reviews that this CD received. I thought it would consist of soft classical music of the 'berceuse' type, instead it consists of songs that are sung in the 19 th century traditional English style. They are only loosely based on a classical theme. If you like this type of music that's fine but others beware, this is not a classical music CD in the sense of the word that most us associate as classical
