4.0 out of 5 stars Dead Center is not dead reading, Nov 20 2003
By
This review is from: Dead Center (Mass Market Paperback)
I've read all of Linda's Ghost Investigator books and have enjoyed them very much but this novel was fantastic! It satisfies on many levels, Ghost Hunter, Civil War history and just plain mystery. I could hardly put the book down. It made me laugh. It made me cry. It was scarey but also touching. I can't wait for the next Ghost Hunter adventure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspense and Terror From Cover to Cover, Nov 6 2003

MICHAEL J WORDEN (Port Jervis, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dead Center (Mass Market Paperback)
Linda Zimmermann has created a masterpiece with "Dead Center", the first novel that features fictional ghost hunter Sarah Brooks as she takes on the paranormal in a large shopping mall. Tag along with the thrills of a ghost investigation, scream at the horrific sight of mangled spectres, marvel at the discovery of lost American history and smile with the warm conclusion. Linda Zimmerman has crafted a novel to capture the imagination and the emotions: fear, terror, love, romance, and discovery.
Linda has combined her unique backgrounds in fiction, paranormal investigation and Civil War history to bring forth a novel that eliminates the traditional categories of genre fiction and stands out as a unique work.

A highly recommended work that you are guarenteed to read from cover to cover. I can not wait for the next novel to see what Sarah Brooks takes on next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dead Center gets top marks, Nov 19 2004
By Arthur J. Donohue Dc "octopus thrower" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Dead Center (Mass Market Paperback)
On the advice of a fellow civil war historian I had the occasion to read Ms. Zimmerman's "Dead Center" in the recent past. The volume made such an impression on me that I found myself in search of other works by this author in the same genre. She combines a nice balance of suspense, "spookiness," and a nice historical perspective that I believe provides something for everyone. The "heroine" of her book in "Dead Center" seems to have the qualities of unflappable "street smarts" while searching out spirits in the same vein that Nancy Drew used to possess when I read those mysteries. This book, and hopefully ones to come subsequently are sure to make a hit with readers of all ages. The author's style is of the "page-turning" variety, and you'll find yourself passing up favorite TV shows just to get the the book's final outcome. Enjoy.
