Book Description

May 7 2013 Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood (Book 13)
THE FINAL SOOKIE STACKHOUSE NOVEL

There are secrets in the town of Bon Temps, ones that threaten those closest to Sookie—and could destroy her heart....

Sookie Stackhouse  finds it easy to turn down the request of former barmaid Arlene when she wants her job back at Merlotte’s. After all, Arlene tried to have Sookie killed. But her relationship with Eric Northman is not so clearcut. He and his vampires are keeping their distance…and a cold silence. And when Sookie learns the reason why, she is devastated.

Then a shocking murder rocks Bon Temps, and Sookie is arrested for the crime.

But the evidence against Sookie is weak, and she makes bail. Investigating the killing, she’ll learn that what passes for truth in Bon Temps is only a convenient lie. What passes for justice is more spilled blood. And what passes for love is never enough…

“What sucked me in? Definitely the books’ oddly charming, often funny mix of the mundane and the absurd. And the chills and thrills in boudoirs and various locales around the South aren’t too bad either.”—The Seattle Times

3.0 out of 5 stars Last book May 12 2013
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
The last book was just tieing up all the lose endings, past people were mentioned and you find out what path their lives have taken. This book was very lacking in vampires which was a bit of a disappointment but because of how it ends they were not important to the story. Anyone who has read the books from the start will notice a different style of writing of the last book probably due to the fact the story is finished
A very slow book to start not as much going on until the last three chapters. The trying to conceal identities was a bit boring might have been better to add names so you knew the danger that could be coming. Glad she got a man in the end and loved who it is that was the only saving grace but it could have happened a lot earlier in the book.
This was the first book in the series I read over two days and found myself being able to put it down unlike the others where I had to read them in one go.
Thank you for sharing the world of Sookie Stackhouse with us it has been a pleasure to read

1.0 out of 5 stars A disappointing end to the series. May 12 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm not going to criticize the ending of this book, or HEA, if you will. While I am a fan of certain characters, I maintained early on that there were only a limited number of ways the series could realistically end, given Sookie's life goals, motivations, and values. That said, the books have declined in quality in recent years, and this may be the worst yet. Pages dedicted to what characters are wearing, what Sookie is cooking, what chores are being done... but little time dedicated to major plot points. This book re-introduces a number of old characters, frequently unnecessarily so. Villain motivations are weak and unrealistic, very contrived. This book also contains shifts in perspective that are jarring and not in keeping with others in the series. The ending would be much better received by fans if it had been better guided in that direction early on, and didn't come at the expense of a well-loved character.

I am sorry to say I did not enjoy this book, and wish the series had ended before the author ran out of ideas and things got weird (and not in a good way). Will miss the SVM series, but not Sookie, who seems to have devolved into a judgemental and prejudiced character by the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars Satisfying Conclusion
I enjoyed the book so much I flew through it in two evenings. As a heads up, my review is SPOILERISH, though it takes care not to name names. Other than Sookie's. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Will miss this series- the booked wrapped things up.
Wrapped up neatly. Okay. Not sure what I expected. A bit bland. Lacked the excitement and sexiness of past books. Will miss this series.
