I didn't pay full price for the game. As a Dead Rising fan I was content with the game. If you had already played/purchased Dead Rising 2, you may or may not want to play this game. This is because Off The Record is the exact same map from Dead Rising 2 with the story being from Frank's point of view. There is an added theme park but other than that everything is nearly the same. The only way you would want to purchase this game is if you are a huge Dead Rising fan, easy achievements (you already know the map if you played Dead Rising 2), or you love zombies and like open world games.

Though it may be the vanilla version of Dead Rising 2 it still offers a great and fun experience with lots of bonus content to enjoy. The return of the iconic protagonist Frank West makes the experience that much better. Definitely worth a pick up, especially at its price.

If you're looking to buy one Dead Rising game, Off The Record stands out as the most polished and enjoyable of the three. Frank West, the hilarious, uncaring, macho reporter from the original returns and finds himself one again at the center of a zombie outbreak. Frank is still trapped in a mall, but with more scenery such as amusement park rides, casinos and a good variety of hidden extras.

There's still a time limit on the missions and the main story, but it's more forgiving. As well, there's also a sandbox mode you can have going alongside with your main game where you can gain experience and cash to spend in either save file.

While the game fixed some of the annoyances from earlier ones, a lot of the gameplay mechanics and bugs can still be incredibly frustrating. The two biggest problems are the zombies sometimes warping about and some inconsistent hit detection. There's nothing worse than trying to bolt for your life with 1 hit point left only to be instantly grabbed by a zombie some 10 feet away (who you were clearly avoid) and having to waggle your joysticks to break free. Sometimes you get off without a scratch, but most of the time it's curtains for Frank.
