Review

THE TIMES Deliciously rude.

Jackie Collins Funny, irreverent, smart. A hot writer with a wickedly hilarious pen.

Salman Rushdie It cheered me up.

Carl Hiaasen The funniest thing to come out of Australia since the platypus, only much sexier!

Kylie Minogue I don't recall reading the book so much as devouring it. I was fascinated. The honesty of the story makes it hysterical and terrifying at the same time.

Jilly Cooper Adored it. Utterly outrageous, irreverent, and screamingly funny. I squirmed and cried and laughed.

British Cosmopolitan Laugh? I was nearly hospitalized...Living proof that women's humor can be just as outrageous, rough, and raunchy as the male variety.

British Elle Lette's bitingly sarcastic prose breaks through taboos with a wit so daring you'll gasp at her bravado before you laugh out loud.

Product Description

Why do men like intelligent women?

Because opposites attract.

That's what shy London music teacher Shelly Green thinks when she meets hunky, boisterous American, Kit Kincaide...on their wedding day. Thrown together on the reality show Desperate and Dateless, they were predicted to be the perfect match--physically, emotionally, and intellectually. Proving their compatibility on at least one score (in the backseat of a limo), there appears to be some hope for this manufactured marriage...until their honeymoon on the tropical island of Reunion, where Shelly realizes that men and women have slightly different takes on the meaning of commitment. For Shelly it means love, kids, and happily ever afters. But for Kit it's a meaningful one-night stand. Or is it? What exactly is her husband trying to hide?

Will Shelly discover the truth about Kit? Will she find romance in spite of a civil war, a natural disaster, and a crew of dubious television lowlifes? Do she and Kit have a chance for a real marriage in the hyped-up, surreal world of reality TV?

Love may be blind.

But marriage is a real eye-opener.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful., Feb 12 2005
By Penny Mccleave - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Dead Sexy: A Novel (Hardcover)
I didn't think it was possible for a book filled with such clichés and ridiculous plot lines to actually be published. The over-verbalization of every sentence is painful to read and distracting from the story itself. Example: "Lust jitterbugged in her gusset". Seriously, what? When I first picked it up, I thought it had actually potential. Admittedly it had a few laugh out loud lines but generally that was ruined by the unrealistic interaction between the characters and the storyline that even the writers from Passions would scoff at. The ending itself caused me to throw the book across the room in utter astonishment that someone had taken the time to edit, publish and market. This is possibly the worst book I have ever read.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worth less than one star, Feb 14 2010
By Book Lover - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Dead Sexy: A Novel (Paperback)
I picked up this book after searching for hours at the bookstore. I wanted something light and fun to read after oral surgery. Plus it was on the Bargain Table (now I know why). Reading the back of this book, I thought it might fit the bill. Needless to say, I'd rather sit through more mouth surgery than read this drivel. Awful! The book reads like it was written by a 12 year old. I was so bored and disgusted that I put this book down after just a few pages and stred out a window for awhile (that was more entertaining than the book!) Run from this book!

4.0 out of 5 stars I liked it, Feb 18 2011
By Susan Briglia "Susan" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Dead Sexy: A Novel (Paperback)
Just finished reading "Dead Sexy" and then checked the reviews. I was surprised. All right, it was a little wordy in a silly way; but it did have interesting twists. It was funny, and clever.
