Review

Following the success of Altar Ego, Foetal Attraction and Mad Cows, ex-newspaper columnist, sitcom writer and rock singer Kathy Lette gives us another humorous chick-lit publication, Dead Sexy. This time the romance revolves around a couple called Kit and Shelley, who are matched up through a dating competition run by a local radio station. Although the computer has found them compatible in every way imaginable, the couple couldn't be less alike; Kit considers women to be little more than baby machines and Shelley is a man-hater. A comic-tragic situation arises when the couple meet for the first time. on their wedding day. This is a light-hearted satire on the dating game. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

Kit Kincade, American, with diamond-studded ears and friends in low places, believes women are little more than a life support system to an ovary. Shelly Green, pinstripe-underpanted, cultured, classical guitarist, thinks optimism is an eye disease and hates all men. The perfect pair? Yes, according to a 'Desperate and Dateless' reality TV competition. A computer has matched them - physically and emotionally - with huge financial rewards if they can survive their five-star honeymoon on a paradise island. Kit and Shelly meet the day they are to be married...and it's hate at first sight Love may be blind, but marriage is a real eye opener --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful., Feb 12 2005
By Penny Mccleave - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Dead Sexy: A Novel (Hardcover)
I didn't think it was possible for a book filled with such clichés and ridiculous plot lines to actually be published. The over-verbalization of every sentence is painful to read and distracting from the story itself. Example: "Lust jitterbugged in her gusset". Seriously, what? When I first picked it up, I thought it had actually potential. Admittedly it had a few laugh out loud lines but generally that was ruined by the unrealistic interaction between the characters and the storyline that even the writers from Passions would scoff at. The ending itself caused me to throw the book across the room in utter astonishment that someone had taken the time to edit, publish and market. This is possibly the worst book I have ever read.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worth less than one star, Feb 14 2010
By Book Lover - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Dead Sexy: A Novel (Paperback)
I picked up this book after searching for hours at the bookstore. I wanted something light and fun to read after oral surgery. Plus it was on the Bargain Table (now I know why). Reading the back of this book, I thought it might fit the bill. Needless to say, I'd rather sit through more mouth surgery than read this drivel. Awful! The book reads like it was written by a 12 year old. I was so bored and disgusted that I put this book down after just a few pages and stred out a window for awhile (that was more entertaining than the book!) Run from this book!

4.0 out of 5 stars I liked it, Feb 18 2011

Just finished reading "Dead Sexy" and then checked the reviews. I was surprised. All right, it was a little wordy in a silly way; but it did have interesting twists. It was funny, and clever.
