Product Description

Angel Delaney puts up a tough front-as a female police officer she must. She works for peace in her coastal Oregon town, but loathes the means she must sometimes use to get it. So when her line of duty requires her to use deadly force against a twelve-year-old boy, Angel's world begins to crumble.

The community wants answers, and Angel is dismayed to find that the media portrays her as a racist, a rogue cop, and a menace. While she works to clear her name and her conscience, the investigation into her use of deadly force creates more questions than answers.

The detective working on Angel's case, has his hands full when crucial evidence disappears and other people are found murdered. Do these killings relate to the boy's death? Is Angel next?

"Angel Delaney is a character with real staying power. The story will keep you flipping pages as you get caught up, not only in the police procedural, but also Angel's personal life. Can't wait for the next installment!"-James Scott Bell, author of A Higher Justice

5.0 out of 5 stars Timely and Terrific July 6 2004
By A Customer
Deadly Aim is timely in that it deals with a problem many police officers face--use of deadly force. Rushford, shows how the shooting, in which Angel Delaney is involved, affects Angel herself as well as the community and the family of the victim.
Terrific in that Deadly Aim is one of the best mysteries I've read in a long time. The characters have so much depth and the story seemed so realistic. I loved it and couldn't put it down.

3.0 out of 5 stars Suspense is not watered down at all... Feb. 7 2004
Although Angel is an unlikely name for a cop, Angel Delaney was a good one. Police work appeared to be her calling, until she was one of the officers on scene when a gang breaks into a pharmacy. In a confrontation with one youth, the choice seems to be shoot or be shot. Despite this, she almost does not fire, and when she does, it's not to kill, yet it does.
Angel is sure she fired once, but there are three wounds, one fatal. Suddenly, she is under investigation, which is SOP, but being accused of racism is not. Angel finds herself the target of vengeance and possibly of the real killer. Her world becomes one full of questions; not only the whys of the case, but of faith and forgiveness. She must confront her past in order to have peace with her future, if the killer will let her have one, that is.
*** Deadly Aim confronts readers with hard hitting issues that war inside most people's souls. Christians are forgiven, but even for us, it's hard to forgive when it involves someone you love, or yourself. She also addresses how the dead haunt the living, though not as ghosts. The story's message is not preachy, but it is there, and not watered down either. ***

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book. March 16 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Deadly Aim is one of the best mystery books that I have read lately. It was a pleasure for me to read and not have all the language that is in most books and no explicit sex in it. I am not a prude but most of that stuff isn't necessary for a good read. It not only had a really good plot but also included relationships and personalities. It is book one in a series of three the next being Dying to Kill and As good as dead. I am sure you will want to read all three.

5.0 out of 5 stars A pleasure to read Sept. 7 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It was a pleasure to read a mystery written by a professional writer. Deadly Aim by Ms. Rushford has rejuvenated my desire to read mystery books. All her characters and mainly Officer Angel and Detective Callen Riley set a pace that becomes a page turner you just have trouble setting down. When you get back to the story, your memory of the past pages flood back and you feel you never set the book down. This is a standard we all wish to read, thank you Patricia.

This book sucked you in from the first page and doesn't let go until you get to the end! There were a couple of times that I thought I'd figured out whodunnit, but oh, my!
As I told my husband about 1/3 of the way through the book, you know a mystery is really good when you gasp at least once per chapter! :D
I'm definitely looking forward to the next Angel Delaney mystery! :)

So very true to life with the happenings of today. Once you start reading this book, it is impossible to put it down. A real whodunit mystery where the real killer is not revealed until the very end - loved - highly recommend it!

2.0 out of 5 stars Predictable
I knew the plot outcome very early on - too predictable. Also heroin is way too stereotyped as a female cop with too many emotions getting in the way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cop emotions
Deadly Aim is a good read - mystery, a bit of romance, action that keeps the story moving. The police procedures and description of "cop emotions" were described realistically. Read more
