Suspense and Romance Intertwined!!,
By Karla Hanns (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Deadly Pursuit: A Novel (Paperback)
Irene has continued the Guardians of Justice series , with her second being no disappointment.-Her ability to keep you in suspense throughout the book is outstanding. I was constantly intrigued by the twists and turns in her plot- I never could guess what would happen next. Just when you think you have all the answers, she throws in another idea or mystery. This book is definitely a page turner. It captures your attention on the first page and continues to do so until you are finished. Irene uses a style of fast paced drama and a true mind boggling mystery. The story builds to such a climax that you are on the edge of your seat - I just could NOT put this book down until I had the answers- and even when I finished, I was left with more questions that I wanted answered. The characters appear very real and are described in great detail. You feel the fear and confusion of the main character . Alison is a social worker who has a wonderful passion for protecting children- those in danger and those mistreated. But now, she finds herself in the position of the little ones- she is the one who requires protection. Alison has a tormentor who is giving her a great deal of attention- very violent ones!! She is forced , through her fear , to call in her police-detective brother, who then involves his new partner, an ex-Navy SEAL, Mitch. As the story progresses, the stalker's threats become more violent and frightening. You can feel the danger, my heart beat faster at each action of this mystery person. If you are a nail biter, this book will leave you with no nails at all!! Mitch begins to take a very personal interest in this case and protecting Alison becomes more important than his job. His whole future depends on keeping this woman safe. Irene is certainly a talented author, with her outstanding ability of writing a combination of suspense and romance, combining the two , with her storytelling ability. What a book!! I absolutely loved it!! Can hardly wait for Book Three in this series!! Write quickly , Irene!!

Romantic Suspense at its best!,
By Christina Banks "Stina Rose" (Deep River, ON Canada) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Deadly Pursuit: A Novel (Paperback)
Irene Hannon is quickly becoming one of my all-time favorite authors. Deadly Pursuit is the second book in the Guardians of Justice series. From the very first page, I was drawn into the story, turning pages as quickly as I could, trying to figure out who was stalking Alison, and how things would end. I love the twists and turns that the story takes, and the adrenaline pumping climax. If you haven't read Irene Hannon's work, you've missed out on an amazing adventure. I can't wait to see what she come up with next!I highly recommend this book (and others by Irene Hannon) to lovers of romantic suspense. Irene Hannon does it AGAIN!!,
By Ashley Pichea - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Deadly Pursuit: A Novel (Paperback)
I cannot rave enough about how much I *love* Irene Hannon's books. SERIOUSLY. I was hooked on Deadly Pursuit after only the first paragraph - and friends, that's pretty huge for me. It usually takes me a few chapters to really get into a story - but Irene Hannon is JUST. THAT. GOOD.The story contains all the makings for an incredible suspense drama, romance novel, and Christian fiction book in one. From a character who is re-learning how to trust God with the unknown answers in life, to a character who has learned to trust God and see life from an attitude of gratitude, to a deadly stalker, to a family all involved in crime fighting, Deadly Pursuit is full of twists and turns and characters that will stay with you long after the book is done. Irene Hannon has done it again! 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful

Okay, but slow,
By Camille - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Deadly Pursuit: A Novel (Paperback)
This book was okay, but it was very slow and predictable. I knew that Allison and Mitch would fall in love; I also knew that Allison would somehow get kidnapped and Mitch would come to her rescue. I think Allison fell in love too fast. At the beginning, she does not really want to date, but by the third meeting with Mitch, she has given her heart away. I also did not like all of the bouncing around in the book. I liked the fact that the antagonists viewpoints were written about, but I think it was a little too much. Every other page was filled with his viewpoints and how he was going to get revenge. Personally, he sounded more childish than evil. The one person I liked in the book was Cole. I cannot put my finger on it, but I liked his character. Overall, this book was okay, but it definitely will not keep you up all night reading it.

Thrilling Plot...,
By Melanie - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Deadly Pursuit: A Novel (Paperback)
I've read 4 books by Irene Hannon (5 counting 'Deadly Pursuit') and I've enjoyed each one! Before I even started 'Deadly Pursuit', I fully expected to love it and I did!I love how Irene writes suspense novels that keep me at the "edge-of-my-seat" without gratuitous violence or vulgar language. How she weaves romance in the story that doesn't involve explicit love scenes or things similar in nature. 'Deadly Pursuit' may be my favorite book so far that I've read by Irene. It is filled with interesting characters, a thrilling plot, and of course a love story. We first met Alison Taylor in 'Fatal Judgment' and I've liked her character ever since. In 'Deadly Pursuit', though, we meet ex-Navy SEAL Mitch Morgan. I found myself really liking his character. He seems like a nice guy with a compassionate heart. One thing he did that I found nice is he moved back home to care for his father who just had bypass surgery. Alison has so much heartache and sadness. She was in a horrible car accident that left her in critical condition and now years later she is mostly healed - except she can never have children because she had to have a hysterectomy. Someone is stalking her and leaving morbid gifts - dead flowers with a bingo card that has one number checked off. Then something very cruel happens - I'm not going to say what because that will wreck an aspect of the story - and the perpetrator leaves another bingo card, this time with two numbers checked off. As you can guess, the story continues with the stalker getting closer to bingo. But what will happen to Alison when he finally reaches bingo? How far is he willing to go? I loved this story - it was very thrilling and suspenseful. I think anyone who enjoys reading suspenseful stories will enjoy 'Deadly Pursuit'. And even though the culprits identity was known throughout, there was still alot of mystery as to what he would do next. I loved how we still got to see Alison's brothers and how their stories progressed since 'Fatal Judgment'. I would have liked to have seen Mark Sanders again, but sadly he wasn't in 'Deadly Pursuit'- maybe he'll be in Irene Hannon's next book (I'm hoping). I definitely recommend 'Deadly Pursuit' and I look forward to Irene Hannon's next Romantic Suspense novel. *I received 'Deadly Pursuit' from Revell Publishing as a part of their blog tour. I was not required to give a positive review, just my honest opinion on the book which I've done.* "Available September 2011 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group." |
