It took a while for Abby Cooper's FBI agent boyfriend, Dutch Rivers, to accept her psychic gifts as the real deal. But these days he knows better than to question Abby's visions. So when his favorite cousin Chase is kidnapped in Vegas, they both catch the next flight to Sin City. Abby's inner eye insists that Chase is still alive, but nothing else about the case adds up-especially Dutch's reluctance to involve his own Bureau.
On top of everything, Dutch is battling a mysterious illness, and Abby keeps having disturbing dreams that predict his death. Dutch wants Abby to promise that if the investigation goes south, she'll head home to safety. But when the chips are down, Abby won't fold without a fight...

A so so book,
By Lou "LouBar" (Québec, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Death Perception (Mass Market Paperback)
Let's say I was not impress by this book although I wasn't expecting very much. I always hope to be pleasantly surprised. I found it was missing some action & lots of other thing that gives a book some kicks and I'm not talking sex scenes.
It was not completely boring but it took me 2 weeks to read it, all the 336 pages and usually it takes me couple of days when I'm very busy.

Abby and Co. take Vegas!,
By vegaswedding96 - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Death Perception (Mass Market Paperback)
Love, love, love Victoria Laurie books! This one does not disappoint, if anything, I am amazed at how she is developing the characters and the plots more and more with each book.
This adventure, right on the heels of "Crime Seen" moves the action from Michigan to Vegas (and if ya notice my screen name, ya know I'm a happy girl!) And lots of action there is. Dutch's cousin Chase is kidnapped in Vegas, so he takes Abby along for help. The story unfolds, tying in the side plot in "Crime Seen" regarding Dutch's boss, Agent Robillard, who was involved in a covered-up murder that Dutch had been working to expose. The real fun is that Candice, Abby's P.I. friend, and her sister Cat come out to help Abby when things get sticky, and together these three dodge the bad guys, and get the crime solved. Ms. Laurie deftly weaves her characters and story together in wild ride, that I didn't want to see end! As always, looking forward to the next! 4 of 5 people found the following review helpful:

Best in the Series,
By A Reader - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Death Perception (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was entertaining, action-packed and kept you turning pages until there were no more left to turn. I don't usually go for the psychic-themed stories, but this series is so well-written that I've made an exception.
The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars is that the character of Abby can be annoying at times. Early in the book when Dutch tells her to keep quiet during their first visit to Bob so he can get the info he needs, she immediately goes into her psychic schpiel, which left me wondering why Dutch continues to bring her along when she seems to do this constantly. I also thought some of the psychic things were a bit far-fetched, such as when Abby gets a sense upon leaving the casino that they should go back in and buy raffle tickets just as they're down to their last few dollars. That left me wondering why every psychic in the world isn't hanging around Vegas casinos waiting for the little nudge that makes them rich. Looking forward to the next installment! 7 of 10 people found the following review helpful:

Best One So Far,
By Nancy "Stepfordmomto2" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Death Perception (Mass Market Paperback)
Sometimes being a professional psychic is hard work so the idea of going to Las Vegas with Dutch sounds like a good idea, that is until she realizes that it's because Chase, Dutch's cousin, has been kidnapped and he really needs Abby's help in finding him.
As they rush to find Chase, Abby is confronted with things that she didn't know about Dutch, things that might change their relationship forever, that is if she can find Dutch, who has now also missing, and get to the bottom of all the half truths that the FBI is saying. This book has you back and forth wondering what the truth is and why Abby wasn't aware of what was going on. Is everyone who they seem to be or are there lies upon lies. Finally the characters of Cat and Candice play dominate roles in this book and it's about time. Two great women, who have you laughing and wondering when they will get a series of their own. I highly recommend this series of mad cap adventure. |
