I'm a huge Jason Statham fan, and this one's no exception. Basically we've got Statham's character being framed for the murder of his wife and sent to a prison that deals in a deadly Nascar racing tournament called Death Race. Win five races, you go free, and our protagonist is filling in for a legendary racer named Frankenstein, who has already won four races, so he only needs to win one race with his life to get out. But of course, things aren't that easy when his wife's real killer is in the prison with him, somewhere...
This edition contains both versions of the movie.
This is probably Paul W.S. Anderson's best movie. I thoroughly enjoyed Death Race; it was mindlessly fun, with lots of action and gore, which is what I was looking for in the first place, so I wasn't disappointed. And if you're looking for the same kind of fun, Death Race is a great pit stop for you.
