Book Description

Dec 3 2009
Gail Vaz-Oxlade's brand of money management isn't full of tricks. There's no hidden agenda. There's no mystery. As Gail says, "Money isn't rocket science -- it's discipline." Gail has made it her life's mission to make money management something everyone can do. And she won't take no for an answer. Hers is a style that's unique, with a voice that is demanding, and an approach that is holistic.

Debt-Free Forever will help readers take responsibility for, and control of, their money. Gail's rules are simple: you can't spend money you don't have, you must save something, and if you're in debt, you must get the albatross off your back. But Gail knows following the rules can be tough. That's why Debt-Free Forever gives you a road map to getting out of the red in 36 months or less. By following Vaz-Oxlade's detailed plans and drawing on her unflagging faith in people's ability to take control, readers will reach the right destination: a debt-free life.

Don't buy this book if you're a wuss. Don't buy this book if you're a whiner. Don't buy this book if you hate the idea of doing whatever it takes -- no matter how hard -- to get out of the mess you made. This book will make you squirm. This book may make you cry. This book is the way to move from the crappy place you are now to a wonderful life where you are in control.

5.0 out of 5 stars DEBT-FREE FOREVER Feb 6 2010

For anyone looking to get out of debt and stay out of debt this is the book for you. Gail writes the way she talks on her TV show. She doesn't sugar coat it. You got yourself into the situation and its up to you to get yourself out of it.

You don't just read this book and say oh good book or not so good. You are actually given the steps to take, to make the changes necessary to be debt free.

Buy this book! Get out of debt! Stay out of debt. Live with a lot less stress. I've read a number of books on this subject but none as clear and as motivating as DEBT-FREE FOREVER.

Buy it, read it, take action.

I have read many multiple books on money/debt management, and have been trying for years to find a system that works to help us budget accurately. This book was the BIGGEST eye opener that I have had in a long time. I thought I knew just about everything but boy oh boy was I totally wrong. Gails' advice is so brutally honest, and at times, a little hard to take. But, the way she describes the road to success is precise, clear, workable, and anyone can do it. Yes, it will be hard, and yes, many won't like it - seriously, who wants to give up an expensive lifestyle? But, if you want to escape the depths of debt, and want to live a happier, healthier life, sacrifice is necessary, and this book is exactly what I needed to help me on my way.

What impresses me the most is that this book is aimed towards Canadians, whereas so many others (ie: Suze Orman) are not. It covers all the insurance that Canadians can apply for, RRSP investments, Canadian retirement, and contact numbers for every agency you can think of.

Favourite tip: If you think you cannot control your credit card spending while doing the program, throw your credit card into your fish tank or behind your fridge - laughed out loud, but then thought, why not? So far, its worked for me!

I'm already seeing the way I spend changing and this dose of reality was just what I needed to help me along my way to financial freedom.
