Startlefish hails from Sault Ste. Marie Ontario. The Debtor's Heart is their 2nd disc and was released Dec 2006. The core band members on this outing are Craig West, vocals; new member Shayne Wigglesworth, guitar, vocals, sound sffects; and Ed Young on drums. The band has just recently added a 4th member Jason McBride.
The production of this album and musicianship on this outing is leaps ahead of their debut album, this is truly very professionally done. The opening title track starts off nicely with jangly guitar and driving bass and drums. The first thing that came to my mind was Porcupine Tree. At any rate the first track will have you humming along and tapping your foot.
Other notable tracks are Spanish Rain, Telescopes, Wellington County Nightmare, and Three Wishes. While this disc only has 10 tracks it clocks in at 45:25
This rock trio have managed to put out a sweet album with enough neo-psych flavours to keep me interested and wanting more. Looking forward to their third disc and to hear what they can do as a quartet!
Your money is well spent by picking up this disc!
