Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

In this purposefully over-the-top romp, Black goes in-depth on the underground Viking society that played bit parts in Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down. Sick of the superficiality of Tinsel Town, Hollywood starlet Madalyn Simon escapes to a remote village in Alaska. All is idyllic in her new environs until she and her visiting sister Drake are taken hostage by a medieval underworld society of Vikings called New Sweden. Separated from her sister, and forced to marry her captor, Otar Thordsson, Madalyn soon finds herself with serious Stockholm syndrome, wishing to escape, and yet falling inexplicably in love with her captor. Rambunctious and ribald, Black creates a captivating fantasy, replete with hulky enemies, twisty intrigue, steamy sex, and even some intimate reflections. Madalyn's human quirks and deficiencies, and disbelief at the absurdities of underworld life, are belied by her astute perceptions. Blithe and bubbly, Black cannot be faulted for her imagination.

Book Description

A star in a world of wealth and privilege....

Fed up with Hollywood backstabbing, famous movie actress Madalyn Simon decided to escape the spotlight. Her new back-to-basics existence in an Alaskan cabin did take getting used to, but at least she was in control of her own destiny -- or so she thought. While snowmobiling on the frigid coast with her sister, the pair is taken hostage by a band of rough men who want them -- for reasons beyond imagining.

A captive in a world of inescapable seductions....

They are neo-Vikings from a hidden underworld, in search of women Outsiders to breed for the New Sweden clan. Their sexy leader, Otar, wants only one woman: Madalyn. Overpowered by his masculine strength and unmasked desire, Madalyn must become Otar's wife or face the marriage auction block. Now, in a world beyond dreams and as real as the hot flesh of her enticing warrior-husband, Madalyn discovers the power of an all-consuming passion -- as the fires of revolution threaten all she has come to love....

Ms. Black's latest story in her Neo-Viking world was highly entertaining, highly sensual, and I highly recommend it!

Madalyn Simon is done with Hollywood. Done with the fake, superficial world she's called her own for way too long. Madalyn comes to this conclusion during the middle of her own movie premier. She's done watching herself in ridiculous movies and literally walks out. Well, Madalyn does nothing half way and so when she decides to leave Hollywood, she moves to Alaska...far out in the artic outback she thinks she's found peace. But, when her sister comes for a visit and they decide to take a look at the local wildlife...well, lets just say this decision offers more wildlife then they planned on encountering. His name is Otar and he and three fellow Vikings can't take the chance of Madalyn and her sister Drake running around talking of them. So, they take them underground to New Sweden their underground home.

Otar has been in love with Madalyn for years. He fell in love with the actress not the person, so when he finds her, knows she's seen him...he has no choice but to take her. The fact he's waiting to go off to war used to not matter so much, but now he has a reason to live. Will Madalyn finally realize that his love is true and not a product of Hollywood, and will Otar finally have the love of the woman he's always wanted?

This was a wonderfully creative setting, and Ms. Black has done a very good job bringing her characters to life. Her trademark sensuality is a key part to the romance between Otar and his Madalyn. Ms. Black is a very talented author and one that I now pick up on name recognition alone.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money, Nov 2 2010
This review is from: Deep, Dark & Dangerous (Paperback)
The book is just too short of a read. The author had a great storyline but just didn't expand on it enough. I've read better erotic romance from Harlequin and that's not saying much. Overall, I found the book to be very disappointing and not worth the price.
