The characters come to life and the hardships are ones that make you feel greatful for the pioneering spirit of our countries founding families. The history that is woven into the novel is eyeopening. It became real, not just American History...you can feel the tension, and the relief.

For those fans that like adventure, history,romance, and Texas, this one's for you. I have read the sequel too and it is just as good. The protaganist, Jerusaleum is one brave woman. Being a Texan, it was so cool to read about real Texas heroes that were woven into the story. And this is a Christian story also, so there's no gratuitous violence, sex, or language. This was my first Gilbert Morris book and I was captivated by it. It just goes to prove, you can tell a good story without "shock" value. Bravo for Mr. Morris! I can't wait to read the 3rd book in this series.
